Now I can keep an eye on this project from both sides of the Atlantic. To clarify something Andy mentioned, the weak point of the wing is the inner cutout of the aileron. I haven't had one connect to the servo bay yet, but I'm sure it's possible. I've only seen them break on fairly brutal landings, so all you need is an add an extra layer (something between 3 and 8 oz) of your favorite composite material out past the servo well a couple of inches. Cut it at an angle with the LE a bit longer than the TE and you'll be good to go.

 Hi Reed OMG you follow your Jart builds everywhere, This is a mirror of the other build but the info given varies therefore giving me options on how to approach the build, I think the carbon fest will start this weekend, I am off to the Bwlch tomorrow and went to the GT Orme yesterday ( Ideal Jart weather too ) so a little busy flying at the mo but hey thats what its all about right, Any way I will post pics as and when I do more.  Reed sent me my plan the other day, Waiting to clear some work by then my Stuk from wowwings should be here, then the Jart. I do like to plan how I'm going to do things rather than plough in, so the time will not be wasted. blue foam wings / built up fus is my way forward. I hope to start the build sometime before Christmas. Andy

 J No need for fire over here, I fly then build in that order, I think flying always comes first, As stated earlier and all over this site I have been to the GT Orme and today I went to the Bwlch ( good day again but not quite as good as the Orme) So lot's of flying = not so much building. I have seen this techique used before, where the cloth was laid over a sacrificial core. From what I have seen: - Chopped matt provides a hideous finish
- Woven Roving was better (but not a finished, finish)
Although woven roving was better, there was still the need for a lot of cutting right back. In the case of ther woven roving the weave was cut through in places, thus locally reducing strength. A thouroughly dirty, time consuming business. Have you some bagging technigue (or other) that over comes the issues I have outlined? Still Interested Erfolg

 No The idea is to cover the fuse with the carbon, then glass the lot and sand back and glass again untill the finish is the same as glass, I will document as I go. Lee

When you say glass, are we talking "Windows" or "Resin"? Erfolg

 When I say glass I mean Fiberglass ( light cloth ) and resin, Its easier to sand and will give a nice finish after alot of wet and dry action. Lee

 Right just to clarify, the fuse is foam, it will/has be covered in 1) Zagi Tape 2) Carbon fibre ( in my config 3) glass fibre cloth to give it a deep glass cover 4) a light cote of 2pac paint on the bottom sections. (In pearl white.) Then it will be fitted with 3 hs85 servos and 2p 3c 1000mah lipos. It WILL weigh a tonn but I have plenty of gliders for light wind ( wildthing mainly ) This is being built so it will go like holly c**p cos thats how I want it.  With respect Lee, your layup is hardly holy c**p. It's just normal Jart. If you want a proper lead sled you'll need to get some ply in there. My lay up is spyder foam core, 200g cabon twill on the 45, 1/32" ply in the bag. Then 1/2" cypress leading edges with 3 x layers of 50g glass (2 x 45 degrees opposing and then parallel to the span) and west systems over the top before the twenty odd coats of paint. She weighs 74oz without ballast 122oz with and to be honest is still not a lead sled though I have on occassion wished for her to be lighter so I can fly on more days. I'll just have to make another.  Andy
