 I used "Sky" and "Dark Sea Grey", although I am now advised that Extra Dark Sea Grey would be more authentic, but I can't be bothered repainting again.

 Very impressed with the paint job, looks like its been sprayed. You said you went to the trouble of buying a fine artists brush, wouldn't it have been easier to spray it in the first place?

It would, but the paint doesn't come in aerosol, my garage / workshop is being built and all my airbrushes etc are in storage. Also until completion, I have nowhere to spray, hence the brush job.

Looking good Duane. I'll post some more pictures of mine later. I have completed the wing and the paint work (some touching up to do), fitted the retract mechanisms. I am considering fitting the tailwheel in a more scale position and operating it via a push rod inside the fuselage, but once fitted, it will be inaccessible so I'm not sure.

If you go to www.rcmf.co.uk and search for the Seagull Sea Fury, there's a couple of threads including one of a modified model with a petrol lump up front. Most seem to have a 120 FS in them, but I went for a 108 2st because of cost.

Here's an update of the paint job. The wings are now joined and the retracts in. I'll take pics tomorrow. Quick after thought. Once I joined the wings I used the supplied trim tape to cover the join. DON'T DO IT!!! At least, don't use the supplied trim tape as it's horribly thick and nasty. I think I will have to remove it and suffer the pain of the stripped paint work, then replace it with Solatrim or similar. Use something much, much thinner.

Ok, some updated pics. the silver tape inboard of the stripes is the wing joint cover. Don't use it, use Solatrim or better as it looks pants. It will be painted over nearer the end of the build though. The refuel valve

 looking very nice Shaun  - that is a great finish for brushed paint. I also use the same re-fuelling valve, and they work very well, but be aware that the filler connector stub must be properly and firmly pushed home or else it leaks and sprays fuel all over the model - ask me how I know

The mech retracts bothered me too. That's why I decided to go with air retracts instead, no fussing about trying to set the servos correctly. I am hoping to be ready to maiden on sunday, but work will doubtless conspire against me. We'll see. I have fitted the fuselage servos, and something to be aware of, is Futaba std servos don't drop into the mounts without fettling. I used a file and made the recesses a tiny bit better and now they fit. I have also fitted the tail wheel, but I removed a bit of the mount where the wheel pivot goes through, to lower the tail wheel to the ground a little, as otherwise the tailwheel is a monstrosity. I was going to try a more scale approach and reposition it, but I decided against it as I wouldn't be able to get to it once the tail surfaces were fitted. Might get the tail on tonight. Got a meeting first, so depends on what trivia the parish of Dibley wants to discuss

There will be. It's the one from Rahme's trainer, I just haven't yet decided where to put it. The engine is an ASP 1.08, which was a cost based decision.

Shaun good luck for its maiden flight. Check everything well, relax, keep calm and open the throttle. Make sure CG is where it should be. Its always tense moment. Leave it to gain speed before applying elevator. Never hold up elevator during take offs as it might leave the ground early and stalls. But i'm sure you know it. Once again good luck my friend.

Ok, an update. I have installed all the fuselage servos, the air valve, the on board glow (thanks Timbo), the tail wheel, and built a mock up of the pilots seat which is very visible in flight. I have also added a few touches such as the pilots step and the canopy track. Fisrt the glow unit. It is installed inside the fuselage between the cowl formers. I need to change the glow plug clip as the plug is too deep in the engine for the economy one. Then we have the air valve, operated by a cheap 9g micro servo which is man enough. The air comes from 2 small air tanks mounted beneath the servos. Then there's the tail servos. Note the holes are too small between the bearers and they require letting out a little. The tail wheel The pilot is raised up on 6mm of depron and his seat is made from scrap 6mm depron. The step and the canopy track, made from Evergreen strip. The flaps have their horns on, ailerons tonight. Then I need to finish the u/c and fit the rads. Once this is all done, a lick of paint here and there and she's ready for her maiden on sunday!

Shaun, what a bummer about the glow clip - I didnt realise ( as I suspect you didnt ) that the economy clip version would be unsuitable for that motor Do you have a replacement clip? I have run out of the rubber booted ones, but have some very nice ( although a bit pricey) "cntrlok" plug connectors which I keep for when people are using YS engines which have very deeply recessed plug.If you need a hand ....email me. Did the other 2 x glow units arrive OK ? - I posted them Tuesday.
