Thats the one. The model ended up at under 8 lbs, Brian Taylor would fly a model of that size and weight on a good sixty 2 stroke.

Hi Shaun, just looking at my makeover on the electric seagull what did you do about the black sections on the wings and the the blue and red insignia on the fin? did you remove them, or paint over them? When I looked at the black sections from inside the wing during the build, i noticed that the manufacturer had pricked lots of holes in the underlying film where the black is, i guess to stop bubbles, if i remove the black the film the underneath will be like a porcupine  I guess you left it stuck on and painted over the top. Did the light paint cover okay??

PS really sorry to hear about you E Flight Fury, hope its flying again soon

Cheers

Hi Danny. The insignia on the fin just peeled off, so I removed it. But as you've seen the surface below the black panels precludes this so I left it there, scoured it and then painted over it.

Thanks Shaun...... I am running out of excuses eh?

well work has been a bit busy so not much time for Fury but I have managed to flat all the film down with a green scotchbrite pad (6 3"x2" actually) it does look much better matt.

I have sorted the retracts and they are working really well. I have removed the canopy and the cockpit floor. I have given Ned Flanders the rest of the year off and will find a more suitably dressed pilot.

I have re-used all the offcuts of grey solarfilm and have filled the gaps where panels were joined, wing sections, tailplane, and fin assumbly to fus. This might be a nifty trick to do even if you weren't re-painting. Just take a little care to trim wheel wells and servo cut-outs so that the film can be re-used.

I have attached some pics so you can see what I mean.

Looking good. I heartily recommend Pete's Pilots. They are superbly detailed and lightweight.

What scale did you use in yours Shaun? I cannot find a 1/7 scale pilot on Petes site? How much torso did you end up with?

Cheers

Danny

Drop Pete an email, tell him what you need and if he doesn't have one already, he'll draw one for you.

This bloke is 1/7th too IIRC

What about this guy. He's slightly bigger, but you might get away with it

Longer pilot

Show/hide user stats
hi Shaun he is 107mm wide and the cockpit opening is only 70mm a bit too big a difference in scale..... better put Ned back in at least he knows how the Fury handles

You could always try re-modelling ned a bit, with Milliput or similar. Got to be worth a try.

I have some modelling beads, stick em in hot water and they become a malleable gloop. had thought about molding him a face mask and head gear. might try that. there really is a hole in the market for cheap action man figures. they used to cost a couple of quid on the market. I have one of the Elite Force figures RAF pilot, its really nice but a bit much (£40) for this model. Anybody know where the really cheap action man clones have gone?? maybe I should find some blue foam and have a go at whittling one, however with my artisitc skills I alredy know the outcome of that one LOLOL
