its a shame no one in scotland flys them

I'm guessing the 60" Wildthing would soar better in lighter winds and be less twitchy for a beginner?

Ah buggrit anyway...  I've just ordered my son one to learn the ropes with.. (and for me to have fun with too)

well i learnt (well still learning) on a wildthing and find it great it there is a bit of wind and a bit of lead taped on.

We phoned SAS to order a Wildthing a few days ago but Alan Head was away. He phoned on the 15th at 10pm and we placed an order for the 60" Wildthing there and then. It arrived earlier tonight (the 17th) at 7pm. How's that for a rapid service!?

And my son thinks it's just for him. Muhahahaa!

I have just pimped my as yet unflown WT. Here's a fairly poor pic of it - I will take another (outdoors - perhaps even flying!) as soon as I can. Anyone fancy some groovy graphics for thier WT?

Hi Lee

I am a graphic designer, and commissioned a friend to cut my own design on her vinyl cutter. I applied the self adhesive vinyl last night user her method of wetting down with slightly soapy water first (which allows easy movement and positioning), which by this morning had dried out with no wrinkles and is as tight as a drum. I have considered offering this as a service (combining work AND pleasure? surely not!) as I'm really pleased with the result. I just need to balance the model and I am ready to chuck it off a hill - I may take more pics in case it comes home slightly tatty!

Not this weekend - I'm off to learn how to make an earth oven (!). I will keep you posted. I may quietly try it out on Clee Hill, with a view to flying off the LM very soon.

Here's a couple of better pics of the new livery. Shame I am busy this weekend - forecast looks very good - I will have settle for evening sorties with the Easystar.

Well you wont be losing that in a hurry..........

Man made objects viewable from space:

  • Great Wall O China,
  • Dubai's Palm & World Islands....
  • ....and Matthews WT

LOL

Seriously though, you can recover my SAS Fusion if you want, I chose black, and its a bugger to find when it goes into the gorse during combat.

I reckon this two colour design should have cost me about £12 - which is quite a bit on top a £55 model, but I am sure single colour designs could be done for under a tenner. All I would need is an accurate plan to work off - I had to run a tape over my WT.

It was rather nice to be able to quickly personalise a model - I have kept the underside plain as I am thinking heather and gorse will quickly mess that up - and I really wanted to make sure that I knew which way up it was when hurtling towards me! Also I find that a plane needs some kind of canopy - even if it is only a sticker. It seems my love of kites has made the crossover to my planes...

I may play with a few designs and post them up here - if that sort of thing is allowed Timbo!

Absolutely... look forward to it Matthew

Thanks Timbo!

I've just changed my avatar to accomodate my pimped WT - funny how you find the time for such things when you should be doing 'real' work. I'm off to enjoy the last of today's sun...

Well I have flown twice today

Just got back from trying a hill right behind the house, Its a mile uphill walk but worth it when I got to the top, Just to save a bit of time I phoned my brother from the top , Then flew the WT right back to the house, Superb flying landed in the back garden

The other flying I did today will be another post shortly, Lets just say mouldies and fantastic

Best regards

 Lee

P.S. Heres my latest design not sure if I have already shown you or not

Here's my son with his yet-to-be-flown WT60.. with a rather more conservative colour scheme.

I'm praying for some wind tomorrow..
