I was in Aviemore yesterday after being out at the flying site when I saw a notice in a shop window.

DUE TO THE COLLAPSE OF THE POUND WE ARE DOING A STRAIGHT EXHANGE RATE OF ONE EURO EQUALS ONE POUND FOR PURCHASES.

The wording may not be exact, however the meaning is the same. Brits pay just over twenty percent more than the EU visitors for the goods in the store.

I checked, the POUND has not collapsed so don't panic yet. Hmm, perhaps you better.

Have you looked at the price the petrol stations are asking for a splash of go-juice!

£70 to fill my bloomin car up yesterday !

I put £30 in every week and try not to look at the prices......or I get upset....

The value of the pound against the euro has been falling for some time and my guess is that it won't be too long before the euro will be worth more than the pound. Brown talks about only joining the euro when the conditions are right but the conditions are getting increasingly worse. It occurs to me that we have missed the boat once again through our own arrogance and incompetent government..

Timbo. if you dead-head the blooms on your car, it will reduce the wind drag, and you might get another lamp-post per gallon out of it!

Me, too, until the knees gave up. I used to cycle 100 miles per week just going to/from work. now I've got a little 125 engine instead.

Hi Eric.

I have good and bad days with it but at lest with Helli's you can fly from one spot if the going gets to much for the legs.

Owen.

What a state to be in..,the Americans who started the credit crunch, well they suffer..?..$3.25 a gallon in our exchange rate for the pound is it near $2..,so why are we excepting to pay what we do for a litre..,the garage filling stations should be made to show  (PRICE PER GALLON ) dont we, after all work in miles per gallon anyway...it will show up alot more the true cost..,plus show in the price the collection of tax taken..,ie example ...(.£8.00per gallon..,TAX £7.65.,) Its put up or shut up,keep smiling and except what the goverments here or european we put in power to do and pay you will.!!..,as they say you have seen nothing yet!!....,its going to become much worse in all areas of our lives without question..,a need to put the people in Goverment to be  on a.... (2 year contract ).....needs to be put in force....,who ever they may be...,evaluated for all performance areas,if not up to scratch...,as Alan Sugar would say your fired..!!!.

Hi Ron.

You are so right it is a dog eat dog world, and the rich will all ways get richer and the poor will stay poor, so the only way to go is back to the days when you skratch my back and ill proberly skratch yours. I think the days when people looked out for one another has to come back, so we can stop this world getting there hands on our hard erned cash, the worst thing is if you have a placs you call home this is a sitting target for those who think money grows on tree's, to try there best to get there hands on it Big Bother is watching you from afar never mind we will over come it were brits.

happy times ahead Owen.

Don't forget, they want to build a supercomputer to store all our e-mails and forum chatter on, too, so they can pick out who the dissidants and agitators are! (And guess who is going to pay for the computer... us lot of course, via our taxes.) Am I bothered? No, by the time they get it working, I won't be around to care!
