i will bear that in mind, i am not going to rush into it, i will probably end up getting the Parkzone T28 Trojan with 4 channels and work up from there, does that sound like a good idea just to get used to the similar controls

Sounds like an excellent idea, it's a superb little model

You should join my club Steve (Lancaster Model Club), they just assumed I could fly because I turned up with my aerobatic Gemini Bipe, didn't bother to try and tell me what to do, even though I admitted I was self taught and only been flying a few months. They are also quite impressed with my EDF models (they are all IC boys). Anyway E-Flite do a Hawker Sea Fury with retracts, it might not have landed yet in this country but it should be available pretty soon. Happy Flying

I'm first in the queue for that one Thanks Tom I'd forgotten about that one - here's the model at the recent Horizon day .......
Keeping the best ones for yourself then David
Thanks for that guys, my options are good, it would take me about 4 hours to get to your club up there Tom but it may be worth it.

Hi Stevan, With referance to the Ripmax Me109 have you seen my build blog Ripmax 109. The model seems to be based on a Me109E-1 48" wingspan. Kelvin
Of course there's always the Kyosho BF109, which is very nice and comes with retracts.
have a look at Stevens aeros. I have a g-ride and whilst not a warbird it flies like a much larger aircraft. Your father in law will love the engineering and may even let you build it your self. This is, of course in addition to what ever you decide to do next. I completely understand your view of clubs, I much prefer doing my own thing in my own field and I can choose who else I fly with. Bmfa insurance is comforting though.

thank for the advice, i looked at Kelvins 109 and looks great and also at stevens aeros, there is so much choice on the market, i am going to enjoy the next few months, just have to persuade the wife that a workshop full of planes is a must!!!!!!

Try the " I will have one model for each of your pair of shoes", in our house that would give me around 100 models
i have decided to definately go with the Trojan from Parkzone and i have viewed a video on Youtube with a 3 bladed Prop on it and to say it looks fantastic and massively increases the performance is an understatment. would anyone be able to tell me what make or size prop i could get to copy this guy on the Parkzone?

Hi Guys, and especially David I do accept that I didn't read Stevan's profile, and I should have done that.. I stand well chastised. But there is a very important point at issue here. Constantly, in the press, on forums, and at the flying field there are newcomers who want to fly a spitfire, a mosquito,or heavens above, a lancaster. I guess this comes from an expectation of quick and easy success in what most of us know is a pretty demanding hobby. Now I think it is up to all of us who know how difficult it all is..To immediately put them straight, so Forget the fancy warbird till you are completely at home in the air, close up, far away, upside down, dead stick or whatever. That took me a good couple of years, but then I'm slow at all this Till then join a club, find an instructor/mentor, and slowly learn Build, yes build a trainer, This way a better understanding is obtained, and the buzz when eventually it flies is infinately superior In my book, the warbird with retracts etc. is around model no 4 or 5. Goodness, I'm not there yet after all these years, but then, I'm slow at all this ernie

Stevan - it moves pretty well on the two-blade you know Ernie - wouldn't argue with that
i will give it a try, just got to persuade the wife to let me keep the BBQ outside of the shed, so i can keep it safe!!!!
Well, i have purchased the Parkzone Trojan, just waiting for it to arrive, i just wish the wind would settle down a bit, could anyone tell me what is the maximum strength you should fly in with something like the Parkzone. i am missing my little walks across the fields with one of my little beauties!!
It will fly in 10-15 mph winds Stevan but calmer days are better. I fly mine 2-3 times a week now, in the park and at our main flying site - it's just the right size to do both. Fabulous little aeroplane but don't forget to add some noseweight.....
I've just thought while reading the thread do alfa model do a 109 with retracts. I know they do a spit' with them and generally manufactures do both of them or neither... Bit expensive though...
Sorry couldn't find an alfa 109, but I found the Koshyo one. Looks nice but a .40 size electric conversion looks abit expensive to me!
David, when you say add some noseweight, how much do you recomend?
