Hi all at RCM&E, could i suggest a review of the Piper Cub sold by Galaxy models for less than £50.00.

It is a superb bit of kit, it needs to be reviewed in the mag, not often you get such a good model ( instuctions are poor) for so little money.

Please, check it out.

Chris.

Trouble is we had a spate of Cub reviews a while ago....we were in danger of turning into Cub monthly!  - looks like good value that one.

Hi Jonathan, yep thats the one, it really is as good as the advert.

I bought one for my little saito .40 four stroke as i had a Flair cub years ago with the previous version of the Saito in, if flew really well unfortunatly i could not get a Flair one so bought one of these, Get one, you will not be dis-appointed !!!

Regards

Chris.

Sorry Chris - First Person View ....flying with a camera in the model using a 2.4ghz downlink to some goggles. Your flying view is what the camers sees.

Ah, radio-controlled vertigo!

Yes, the chap I've been talking to has to sit down when he flies, not suprised!

Here a bit about it...

erm -sorry, what is the point of this system? Its vitual reality but controlling something real. surely this is just a computer game but a step too far? I thought the point of r/c flying was controlling something remotely. Also, having your eyes covered by those goggles is a bit of a safety risk; you can't look around you to see whats going on with other aicraft. Besides, you'd look a bit of a twit at the field wearing all that equipment all over your head.

Wow!  This looks amazing!

I always wondered about this but only got as far as the FlyCamOne stuff.  This is certainly the next level!  I wonder how big the extra gear is though - would it fit in my Electric UHU?

Those videos are very impressive, and I've found more on YouTube.  Evidently these guys can Pan and Tilt the cameras by moving their heads on the ground!

I also came across a device that overlays GPS data/ battery data onto the video such as height, direction home, battery left, etc. awesome!

All they need next is airsoft strapped to the front and we can have proper air combat!!

I can see the attraction and it gives one the ability to fly where you couldn't from the normal fixed position, if you see what I mean. There's a video in our You Tube front page gallery where this lad is flying between sky scrapers and the model is out of the normal visual line of sight at times.

The cameras are very light, lighter than a FlyCamOne unit in fact Mark. As you say, proper air combat!

Can I suggest an article on night flying? Been having a blast w/a Parkzone Ember outfitted w/leds powered off the stock battery.

Funny you should say that Stan as I'm just adding lights to my Slow Stick as we speak - stay tuned.

Just a thought re the fpv business, 2.4 gig radio doesn't work too well through buildings, so it could be a bit dodgy! Imagine the fun if the 'downlink' went down due to structural blocking, while the rpv was out of sight, and if the 'uplink' to the servos also failed!

I watched those vid clips on you-tube, following a link from somewhere else on the forum, and noted that the control room was fairly high up in a tower-block, and looked out over the sea, too, although the rpv went all over the place.

Don't forget, as I understand it, the UK has a much lower power allocation for 2.4 than do other countries.

Hi David,

The review of the Cub from Galaxy models is nearly all done ( what a good kit, ARTF with a bit of building)

Just waiting for flying weather to take piccy's.

Regards

Chris
