We need a bit more detail Carl - Brands, receiver types and the crystal types you have please

It sounds like you have bought a dual conversion crystal which will only work in a Dual conversion RX but as David says we need more info to be able to help you.

or even a tr crystal being used in a rcvr ?

thank you Bruce ,the orange does say dual conversion on it and the others or rx does not ,will teach me to buy when i on holiday and no where near the models to check .will after to will till i go to robinhoods bay again to exchange it
