Hello there, anyone know where the 'ID Set' switch is on the Futaba 6EX? I've been staring at the darn thing for over an hour and can't find it.

Taken from the PDF manual - thanks google !. Link Procedure Each transmitter has an individually assigned, unique ID code. In order to start operation, the receiver must be linked with the ID code of the transmitter with which it is being paired. Once the link is made, the ID code is stored in the receiver and no further linking is necessary unless the receiver is to be used with another transmitter. (For T/R set, the link is already done at factory. When you purchased another R606FS, this procedure is necessary; otherwise the receiver will not work. 1. Place the transmitter and the receiver close to each other within one (1) meter 2. Turn on the transmitter. 3. Check the LED that is placed on the back side of the transmitter to see if the RF signal is active. When the green LED is ON solid, the RF signal is being sent. 4. Turn on the receiver. 5. Press down the "ID SET" switch for more than one second, and release the switch. The receiver starts the linking operation. I take it this means the ID set button on the receiver NOT the tr...seems like the tr does not actually have one, unlike the spekky.

Yes it does!! It's a tiny hole in between the two aerial wires. On the top face of the rx is an arrow pointing to it - labelled easy link! Er - ignore that, you want the one on the tranny, I must learn to read!! - I'll have to excavate mine and have a look! The important thing to remember is DO NOT turn the tx on for a moment, then off again, that can (will) cancel the unique id, and you will have to send it back to be re-set! Switch it on for at least fifteen seconds.

Thanks guys, as ever the responses on the forum are fast and helpful. I managed to get hold of the Futaba service dept at Ripmax this morning and they confirmed it is the small switch between the ariel wires on the Rx. Anyway to cut a long story short everything is working and I can now begin the installation...yippeee!

If the tx and rx were bought as a set, it should already have been 'bound', i would strongly advise you to check that the tx hasn't been reset to the 0000 id in the shop or it could allow the rx to respond to any other tx. If there is someone nearby with a 2.4, ask them to assist with a range and compatability check. There is a thread on that in this section somewhere. The rx will still work with your tx, now it has been linked, but if your tx has gone to 000, you could have problems. Edited - if you fill in your profile, everyone can see where in the world you are!

Eric Futaba/Ripmax are now shipping the 6EX with the R067FS rx, so you get a six channel transmitter with a 7 channel receiver and they are not bound at the factory. By pressing the little switch between the ariel wires the ID was set and all the servos are now working as they should. (just need to get them into a plane I've updated my profile but to save you looking, I live in Fareham, Hants.

I would like to fit my 6EX Futaba 2.4 set with a 11.1v Lipo tx battery as I do a fair bit of gliding and would like increased duration as the installed 700mah Nicad needs regular recharging. I bought a new Flightpower EVO25 11.1v 1500mah " TX Lipo" battery recently on understanding its suitable retrofit for all Futaba transmitters,it doesn't fit the 2.4 set ! Apparently the battery is "only suitable for Field Force7 and above" txs but no mention of this fact when buying from uk website online. I live in Spain and not wanting to send the battery back I experimented with one of my old 35mhz Futaba 6EXA Txs and managed to increase the size of the battery compartment by cutting a slot in it to take the lipo and making a new larger compartment from paxolin. My question is:- before doing the same to my 6EX 2.4GHZ Transmitter, is it likely to cause harm running it on the initial fully charged Lipo voltage of 12.6v ? Somebody out there must know !

I use a Flightpower Li-Po in my Futaba FF9 and it's fine Harold but to be sure you could always give the Ripmax service centre a call?
