Hi Everyone,Is there anyone out there who might be able to help me as i am at a complete loss.I have a futaba 6EXA transmitter that is not talking to the reciever. All the crystals are fine and so is the reciever as i have tried them on my old Futaba radio set and all work fine. The transmitter has been stored for a year in my garage which is dry and the battery charged fine. The transmitter computer system all appears to work correctly i think as it cycles through all of the programmes on the LCD screen.I bought this radio set 18 months ago and has not been out of the box only to cycle the battery. Can anyone help.

Many Thanks Chris

Hi Chris, assume you on 35MHz? Is the receiver compatible ie. it's not PCM with the TX on PPM? Is the aerial screwed in, sometimes that can come loose. Just re-check the crystals or change them if poss. What was your old Futata set and what brand of receievr is it?

Hello Chris,

I've had this with my 6exap, and it was that I had somehow switched the tx from PPM to PCM, so it stopped talking to the PPM rx...Check that you have not done the same.

Have you got the correct crystal for the receiver - ie is it a single, or a double conversion rx, and likewise for the crystal?

A single conv crystal won't work in a double rx, and vice-versa!!

If you hold your switched-on transmitter very close to a pocket trannie radio, you should hear a burring noise from the speaker, the tone changing as you wiggle the sticks. Check first with a tx you KNOW is working, then try with the 6ex. Or find your local Radio Ham with a scanner that covers 35 Megs, and see if the tx is actually txing!

Thanks for your input guys but the crystals were supplied with the set as was the receiver and they all worked up until i put them into storage as the radio set was to be used on my new project which has now been finished.I know projects shouldn't take this long but with family and other commitments time flies.

Many Thanks Chris

Did you check the ppm/pcm settings...?

I don't think this set has it as it is a 6EXA and not the 6EXAP version but i could be wrong.Would you be so kind as to where the settings are found as it doesn't show it in the manual. Many Thanks

Hi Chris,

Ah, ok. If it has got this facillity, there will be a PPM showing in the top right hand corner of the screen, (or PCM). If you have, you change it by going into PULS in the menu.

as above check ppm/pcm settings
