Hi all

Im Jamie from Sudbury in Suffolk, ive been flying for just over a year but am new to this forum chat stuff, being a shy guy an all. I currently have 2 planes a glider for when i first started and parkzone's T-28 Trojan they have both been crashed unfortunately, but never mind it's all part of the fun. I started flying alone until i started bumping into other RC plane enthusiasts on a regular basis, most of the time though i fly alone at my local school field on early weekend mornings. Im now currently trying to choose an I.C. trainer but dont know which one to go for it will probably be either a WOT trainer or a seagull arising star. Any other suggestions? Also i was wondering if there is a club near sudbury that anyone knows of, i know of one but it's a lot of traveling.

Thanks J

Hi Jamie. I cannot help with the flying clubs in Suffolk, as I'm in Cheshire!

All these ARTF models claim they will fly straight from the box, but that is a load of cobblers! In the hands of a skilled flier, they can be persuaded to fly, but the power, as is, tends to be marginal, which means they fly too slowly, which means they crash. Plus they will not be trimmed out to fly straight, which means that they crash!

If you read the engine instructions, it probably says will fly from a .19 to a .40. That means a .19 will allow it to taxi around the carpark!

I always say to put in the biggest engine that will fit, you can always throttle back once the model is up in the air.

Please read the 'Beginners start here' thread before you spend any money. You need insurance more than anything else!!!

Learning on your own is never easy, because you don't know if it is you who is doing something wrong, or the radio that isn't working right, or the model that is doing something funny, or just the wrong weather conditions!

Don't be scared of asking questions, but please read through all the threads on the forums first, as you may well (ptrobably will!) find the answer there!

Ask the BMFA about your nearest club.

Hi Jamie and welcome to the forum

Please remember to fill in a little about yourself on the profile page - that way you will be sure to get more response to your questions! Don’t miss the several threads dedicated to Newbies such as yourself, in the beginners section, together with the few guidelines we have listed to help you with using the forum.

Perhaps this in particular may help

And this.

Once again, welcome on board and have fun! Timbo.
