Thread: Best given the right of way
Was in Arizona last June and saw a Rattler. It was in a caged box, a real bad looking thing and he/she wasn't rattling.
Interesting reading responses. Just goes to show where ever in the world, when out and about, be alert and watch for these nasties.
No mention of the most dangerous of all - the one eyed trouser snake. Ahh, perhaps it's best not to go there.
Saw these on the FB page of an Australian MFC. Taken this past week. It is either a Red Belly Black or a large Eastern Brown. Both very dangerous, the Brown more so. Best admired from a distance. Been seeing these in the flesh all my life and they still cause a shiver down my spine.
Thread: Longer Days.....
Aussies tell the same story as the kiwi blokes- fly year round. There is no real winter here, just cool for a few weeks. The problem at this time of year is the summer brings out the flies, Bush flies. They are small, persistent little buggers. And other nasty creatures. It is the price we pay for flying in the great southern land..

Thread: ESC problem-Durafly Vampire V2
I have had a busy few days since posting my Q with kids parties and Cat Stevens concert.. Thank you to all who responded. I opted to chase the easiest fixes first and took the advice of Chris and Steve to re-set the throttle cut. So simple. It now works bonza.
Summer storms predicted to the week end, so probably next week for the maiden.

I have a DF Vampire V2 as my first EDF and using a Spektrum DX7 G2 radio.
I have set the throttle cut to switch H and it kills the motor in the on position I have selected.
I have the timer set to activate at 10per cent and with the throttle stick in the lowest position.
When I move the throttle cut to off, the motor starts. I can only stop the motor to moving throttle cut to on.
I have tried to recalibrate the ESC. I have changed the receiver and tried other timer settings. Nothing stops this problem. It must be in the ESC somewhere, I just can't isolate the problem.
Hoping some one out there may have encountered a similar problem and effected a fix.

As we say in Australia, " She'l be right ", or "She's apples".

I just need to keep her slow in the turns.
I like flying like this. No chance of a walk of shame. Just a pint of two at the Red Lion on the way home.

Has anyone asked the bloke what the problem is. If so, what was his response ?. I believe there is nothing like self examination to trouble shoot an issue.
Thread: Durafly Spitfire 24 update to 5 blade prop
Mine is the later issue with the mount for the newer motor. The update runs on a 4s 2200 battery and dry fitting the battery into the motor bay looks like I have to remove a fair bit of foam to fit the battery and get the battery hatch on. And move the receiver aft. That is where I thought, I'll consider this just a little more.
In mine I can't secure the 5 blades onto the stock motor, it won't tighten to my satisfaction. The photos look like you are running a stock set up.
This is my next project after finishing my PKZ Corsair.
I saw a Spit with 5 blades at Hendon a couple of years ago, loved it, and then HK issued this update.
I thank you for your advice and will let you know how I get on.
Thanks Colin. Looking forward to seeing the pics.
I have a Durafly Spitfire 24 and want to do the update which involves replacing the ESC, motor and fitting a 5 blade prop.
This setup runs on a 4s.
My question is for anyone having done the update, and have /had it flying, how did you fit a 4s in the battery position ?. How was the CG affected.? Was the receiver to another location ?
Any advice of your experience welcome.

Thread: Wings over Illawarra 2017
Sabre is licence built in Australia designated CA27. 112 taken on strength. This one delivered to RAAF 1960. A huge number of design changes from nose to tail to accommodate Avon engine. Two 30mm canon. Standard wings with 6 x 3 LE slats. Updated to carry early Sidewinder missiles. Currently two airworthy, the other -983 is owned by Air Force, on loan to Temora Aviation Museum. Never tire of seeing the Sabre fly.
Josip, did you have an involvement with the F86 ?
The airport dates from from a auxiliary field, to Nowra, constructed by the U S Army in 1942.
No show by pics, now to plan B

For The RFC, 'Bloody April' 1917 equalled only by ' Black September' 1918. A good book on the subject, 'Bloody April... Black September', by Grub Street publishers 1995.

This new competition class combining model flying with gymnastics is just not the right way going forward.
