Thread: Detectorists
14/12/2017 15:08:06

So who watched the last episode of what is probably the best TV for a long time.

Bet we can all relate to the Gazebo scene.

Thread: Repairing Fibreglass Mouldings
08/12/2017 09:32:52

Don't be put off that things will have to get worse before they get better, you need to get to the detail of any damage.

Its more important at this stage to get it back into shape / alignment, so don't be afraid to drill it and screw wood / wire into it to get it to hold its shape.

Having to fill a couple of additional holes is a small price to pay to know its right.

Thread: Recommendations for good sunglasses

Not cheap by any means, I use Bigatmo - utterly superb fit, finish and lens.

Thread: What's a Watt?
31/10/2017 07:56:10

Seem to recall an old college joke: watt is the unit of power - Yes it is. Has to be said out loud otherwise what/Watt gives the game away.

On the subject of college jokes:

There are 10 types of people in this world, those that understand binary and those that don't.

Taking that one further:

There are 10 types of people in this world, those that understand binary and those that don't, and those that confuse it with ternary.

Thread: What wire gauge for servos ?

Have you seen this I did some years ago, I've been making them for years.

Thread: Telemetry - do you use it? What do you think of it?
08/09/2017 20:23:10

Jeti already have heptic feed back, albeit just stick shakers, but wont be long until they are full force feedback.

08/09/2017 13:50:11

For me telemetry is something I'm using more and more, from engine temp to actual consumed current from my flight batteries.

The problem with most radios is that you only get the data reported back.

I'm a recent convert to Jeti and can use the data in alarms, functions and mixes, which now makes it useful.

Thread: Non Phone line broadband
21/08/2017 09:05:01

We are in the same position in the Worcestershire countryside, and have to use a company call Airband. We can get 20Mb down which is plenty for our use.

The service works well, when it works. For example they use remote relay stations to connect the network, and when the nights draw in, they didn't have enough battery to keep the UPS running over night. And it took a while to sort out. over 2 years.

Check the SLA smaller companies cant respond as quickly, we have not had a connection all weekend - it dropped Friday after they all went home and its only just come back.

That said we have no other options and they know it.

Thread: DB Sport/Scale Ali spinner troubles
18/08/2017 13:49:41

Hi Tim

Had a similar issue with the A frame as you call it - couldn't get it to balance. I changed it to a more traditional approach with a threaded bar tapped to the engine crank shaft one end and the I think M5 the other to afix the spinner

Thread: Web Design Software

Thread: 1/4 (stand off) scale Nieuport 17
20/07/2017 13:43:41

John - I have an NGH 25 petrol 2s. Origonal I think has a CRRC 26cc.

Hi Bob, 10 screws for wings and U/C not assembled at patch yet, but take about 10 mins in the workshop.

No rigging to worry about.

Thread: 1/4 (stand off) scale Nieuport 17
20/07/2017 11:45:45

Thank you Tony.

As yet unflown. Still the radio install to do, and the odd detail to add, like the headrest.

20/07/2017 11:21:06

Latest edition a 1/4 (stand off) scale Nieuport 17 in the Lafayette Escadrille scheme, some final finishing off to do. It is 80" span and fitted with an NGH 25cc petrol engine, and guided with JETI.

Full build blog on my website.
