Hi and welcome to my build thread, As the title surgests it will be a Jart build,

So in the beginning there was a little vid on you tube...... Hmm that looks nice I thought, Then a quick visit to www.jartworld.com and an E-Mail to Reed, Next thing I know theres a set of plan's here for me. So next thing to do is sit on it for a while and think " how do I want this to be". Loads of thinking later I have decided the route I will take.

Keep watching

So as I said it starts with a set of plan's just for me even with my name in the corner ( I feel special ) There are conditions to building the Jart  1) You MUST NOT SELL any Jart's 2) YOU MUST NOT SELL JARTS!!!! 3) There is no cure once you have the bug it's there for life 4) See Reeds site for more details

So now I need to give you an Idea of what it is I am going to build. I have ordered some Carbon fiber and epoxy (www.ecfibreglasssupplies.co.uk really nice people and great deal too) then nicked some foam off the builder's next door ( I asked nicely). Hmmm how to do the wing's!"£$%^&*( Oh I know ask on the forum and you shall know Thanks again Andy E for the contact, So after being given a link by Andy I went to ( www.foamwings.co.uk) Then phoned and spoke to Barry, Very nice man. So he's going to make my wings for me ( no it's not cheating because I would not be able to make them myself, no vac bag no hot wire just nothing to make wings)

Any way He is going to make them at a really good price too.

Keep watching

With a nose like that it will be good for spot landings, if they go in for them on the slope .

From an aerodynamic point of view, a good radiused nose is better at avoiding avoidable drag if the aeroplane yaws etc.

Does the sharp nose make it easier to build?

If you have reached my high levels of piloting competence, nose rebuilds or additional re-enforcement could preserve its looks.

From a safety aspect, I will await our safety warriors with bated breath.

Keep going

Right so as I said next bit TAPE

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j175/ViperTBE/DSC00137.jpg

making sure to cover all of the foam so that the epoxy doesn't eat it.

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j175/ViperTBE/DSC00140.jpg

If I am honest I think it could be a little FAT never mind I am sure it will fly and it still looks good.

Don't know if you've picked up on the wing weakness on all carbon skinned jobs. The aileron servo cut out and the root end of the aileron are quite close together and some people who impale rather than alight have sufferred cracking of the wing skin between the two.

My 74oz Jart has a 1/32" ply sheet over the 200g carbon and under 3 layers of glass. The hill itself is more likely to break in my case but it's best you are aware of it. More details at jartworld.

 Looking good.

Sand it round.

I am interested in a number of things

a) What is the foam used?

b) What is the covering?

c) is the covering or resin cooloured?

d) There are no openings apparent for radio etc?

apart from that, looks great.

Erflog

Right what you see is a foam ( insulation foam ) Blank, the covering on it now is to protect the foam from the epoxy when I put the carbon fibre on, Its Just Zagi tape. Once the carbon fibre and glass fibre is set the foam will be dug out and thrown, Its known as a lost foam build.

Keep watching cos there fairly easy to do ( alot easier than making mold's)

To find out more look at www.jartworld.com

Very interesting, I will keep watching.

What is Zagi tape?

I have seen foam removed by using, cellulose paint thiners in the past and also acetone. Leaves a gunge which is poured out, the remainder goes hard after a day or so.

Zagi tape is just coloured box tape, I refer to it as Zagi tape because in model terms thats what it is mainly used for.
