Hi everyone

I am trying to locate Dave Smith Models kits. I believe they were sold off to Marvic Models. Any information you could provide would be much appreciated.

Even if I can locate the tooling to reproduce the kits. Any information on the location of the templates or tooling would be great.

Thanks
Adam

Hi Adam

As I understand it, they all went quite some time back. Usually good flyers once sorted, I have an old Saphir I occasionally fly, and a Smart Move still in it's box. As you point out, the tooling surely must be somewhere. Unless of course that's gone in a skip, which would be a shame........

Hanger 9 how much would you like for the dalotel. Let me know I am interested.

Cymaz I would greatly appreciate the plans if you could dig them out.

They were great models and I would like to see them available again.

Thanks
Adam

Sounds like a good deal, I've had the DSM SAPHIR & Joker and still have a Joker (59"inch span) to build.

The kit builds easily and the finished job flies well. Mine used an OS 61 pumper and were very capable models. Sadly the pumper is a box of bits at the moment.

I have a started contact 140 kit that I intend to finish. Steve Dunning has just made me a lovely set of wings for it as well. Happy to copy the instructions / diagram sheets if you want them. No plan though.

If someone were to start a limited production run of DSM kits, I'd certainly be interested.

I agree, great idea, I would go along with that as GBCAA compliant designs, once I've done the Joker in the loft.

They are a simple way in to great aerobatic flying.

I am certainly thinking about producing limited kits. Which one would everybody like to see first and has anyone got details, plans etc

Smart Move!

..but I'll go with the flow, Aerostar, Saphir, Dalotel, I don't really care but I would prefer a larger model designed for a 60-90 sized engine.

Smart Move! RIP!

...but I'm not really fussy. The Dalotel, Saphir or Aerostar would do but I'd be particularly interested in one designed for a 60 sized engine or larger. Regret no plans, I don't think there was much of a plan with DSM kits as so much was already cut out.

Sorry double post! blush. Mods please remove the first post.

Damn! I'm not a current member of the BMFA so can't register! I retired to rural France last year!

Adam, a Dalotel will suit me fine. 60-90 size. I have several suitable engines but a Laser 80 which I bought nib off eBay a couple of years ago is leading my current choices.
