Blimey ,

You could toast some marshmellows on that .teeth 2

Handy for the washing too.

The night fighter looks fab Paul . All that detail is really paying off.

The exhaust story is complicated . Most of the nightfighters had flame damping "drainpipes" over the exhaust manifolds to reduce glare to the pilot and hide the fighter from bombers. The upward or downward pointing stacks seem to have a number of permutations with no definite pattern.

Thanks guys for clarifying the exhaust details. I must admit that I like the look of the drainpipes, what chance of getting the actual exhaust to exit from those? now there's a challenge and something else to ponder over before I start mine!

One of the good things about my IC powered twins is that they dont really get oil sodden at all . Thats because I arrange for the standard 4 stroke mufflers to point down and about 45 degrees backward,

They are fairly unobtrusive and unlike a single engined plane , the goo seem to completely avoid the airframe.

Even my Lancaster lands clean as a whistle.

The inboard exhausts on the starboard engine are placed underneath the wing to provide uninterrupted airflow to the supercharger intake. This arrangement was not repeated on the port nacelle, where both exhausts were positioned above the wing.

Now that explains why - thanks KK.

A bit more on that. The other engines super charger inlet was in the leading edge of the wing so they didn't need to route underneath. Apparently this was only on the G night fighter.

Hey they got my colour scheme too... but I am not doing the teeth but that's my colours..

You can see it just  by the wing root. Look closely...raf-hendon-bf-110-night-fighter-2012-3-900x600.jpg

Haven't managed much this week as am at home with a back injury but...

managed this in my fog of pain.... remember Zackary Smith.... oh the pain the pain..

Well this next picture gave the idea.

So with a ply reinforcing ring and a dab or two of super glue we now have.. a super charger inlet..

Now as I describe myself as a Noob to this balsa bashing, This being my second build after the Spitfire.

And no doubt you experienced guys have a secret way of setting things up but..... I thought I'd share this idea.

Have you struggled to eyeball the ailerons when setting up the servo's?

Luckily when I shaped the wing tips I used the foam protection to get the shape and thought this could be a good way of setting the aileron servo's up too...

So I cut a reasonable chunk of foam and used it's profile to help...

Hope another Noob Finds it as useful as I did. I know it will need inflight trimming but not a bad place to start eh?

I really like the milk bottle trick . You have to spot these things dont you ?

I have used some of the multitude of plastic pipe bends from the plumbers dept for air scoops on Zero's and other radial engined planes . Innovation chaps , I love it !

I reckon I we had all crashed on a desert Island , we'd make it back on some monstrous Frankenstein creation ,

The rest of the world might poke fun at us "Anoraks" but I bet we'd have more chance of getting home than the more socially accepted (that's saying something ) football buffs.

In fact , that's touched on a nerve. How come they can walk round in their full West Ham kit and nobody says a word, and yet when I go out in my Flying Jacket , Jodhpurs and leather helmet .........dont know

I took a sneaky picture of Richard at the flying field when I last had the privilege of joining his merry band for a session...

Yes , well, while all that honest toil was going on , Graham and Sweep were lounging in the Jacuzzi created from what was once the port wheel well.

Scallywags..

Since we are discussing the Dynamic Duo ......(well , we are now) .

They have been behaving rather secretively lately . Every time I come in the room they scurry off with something under a pillow case . At first , I thought they had kidnapped one of the beauticians from John Lewis' make up counter.

But I did manage to catch this shot on my "Woody the dog cam "

Richard, you big tease. Are you trying to tempt us? If so it may just work.
