Anyone had a go at this month's Mini Blitz ? Not sure what electric power setup to use ? A 22mm motor will fit but not sure which one , the article mentions 150 watt but not which motor . I have some 1300mAh 3s batteries but not sure what to go for on motor and esc , as it's my first RCME plan build don't want to spend a lot in case I total it first time out , did I mention I have never flown a delta before ? Any suggestions welcome !

I built a Mini Blitz this time last year from my stack of old free plans. It goes very well and i am happy to recommend it. I will post the vital statistics this evening when I get a chance, but from memory, it uses about 50W power from a 2S lipo. Low weight is very important!

20+ years ago I built one of these.

Well what I actually did was to enlarge it and strap a .25 2 stroke on the front of it. I had only been flying for a couple of years then and was to chicken to fly it.

As far as I recall it only flew once in the hands of the club expert, a man who could fly anything. I think this kind of scared him.

No idea what happened to it as it was so long ago.

Any way back to the present.

Going down the electric route with this one.

No idea if this set up is any good. I mainly fly I.C. but electric has its place in my fleet too.

The build does not take long.

A splash of colour is all that is needed.

Wings covered with film. Body sealed with PolyC.

Early indications point to a slightly nose heavy beast.

Hi Kevin

What prop are you fitting, and what sort of Watts does that setup consume?

I have that exact electric set up in my spares box, perhaps I should build one? HK recommend a 7X4 on 3s. If I were to make a wild guess I would think about 170w, depending on the prop. That being the case it should go like a rocket!

Yes that is a 7x4 on there at the moment. 3S 1000mHa

Should go OK, although I confess to knowing very little about electric set ups.

"That being the case it should go like a rocket!"

Isn't that the idea? wink

Thanks Kevin. I have some 3S1000mahs and this years club build is a wing with about the same power requirement, so its nice to know a usable setup.

I tried a 7x5 APC prop and 1300mAh LiPo (didn't have a 1000mAh) and it was giving 13A and 144W which seemed pretty good. Your prop Kevin appears to have a broader chord than my APC so it may produce a tad more thrust, especially as my prop was wearing quite a large spinner. I am sure it will be more than adequate, the proof of the pudding etc.... .

I will try to get it into the garden tomorrow and put it on my watt meter and get a few readings.

The prop is a cheap HK one, so not probably as good as an APC.

That is quite OK Kev, especially as I have to confess to knowing very little about IC set ups! blush

Pics of my i/c version are already on the `new build` thread. Waiting for the weather to warm up and my courage to build up.

Just got the magazine today and I'm going to build both the Mini and Micro and probably get the Micro in the air first.

Forgot the wife was at work tonight, so back out came the balsa yes

I cut out 2 fins and the way I've decided to do it is to put another rib in just far enough away from another one so I can slide fins in straight vertical. I'll probably cover the wing first then glue the fins in.

I also cut out 2 fuz sides and dry fitted them.
