Hi Looking at replacing my texan with a cheap throw around scale model.
A friend says the VQ models spacewalker 46 size is a good one for this and at around £60 represents good value.
I have browsed a few threads including a build thread on tthis site for the ME109 but that seemed to dry up before being built.
Anyone got any views on this i would like to here them.
Thanx
D

Hi David
Although not directly related, I have a VQ P51B model from when they were sold under the Air Loisirs brand, so it is 2-3 years old and they may now be different. I put it on one side whilst I worked on other projects and completed it only recently. I've not flown it yet.
My opinion so far is that it is solidly built, though the 'Vietnamese balsa' is a bit on the heavy side. The cowl is excellent and fits were good except two areas, the wing joiner was badly warped (easily replaced with a ply offcut), and the retracts support members were poorly mounted (easily improved). The lengths stated to cut the retract linkages were wrong, short by about 20mm. The covering is very robust
I'm looking forward to flying it when I've got back in practice when (if?) the weather improves. Hope this helps.

Cheers i12fly, the chap who put me on to this says the build quality is good for what you pay, this spacewalker is pretty cheap for its size. The other planes at 40 size warbirds start at around £120 so it jumps a bit at this point. But my confidence has been dented a little as of late and i have not had much flying in, as most with the weather! so i want to go back to something a little sedater that i can put the bits in i already have. I have an O.S 46 FX sat in its box and plenty of servos and battery ETC so just need the airframe.

Oh well, rings Slough models and they inform me that this model is currently unavailable and cant find anything else that i want in my price range despite my attempts to get some pennies off a warbird.
Looks on BMFA, nice 40 size Super Chipmunk just needs engine, chap takes £70.
Nice.

BTW, I forgot to mention this place.  What about a foam wing for the Texan ?  Looks cheap enough.

Hi Nige, going down to pick it up Wed. leaving at 5pm.

Had a look at Bill kits website. example given of 60" span veneered wing for 30 quid! may bear fruit.
thanx
