4628 forum posts 822 photos | Armed with a sturdy walking staff I proceeded with my illogical search that had been so succesfull finding the Boomerang.Unfortunately it tuned out to be fruitless.I walked with a group of horses surrounding me,crossed a bridge ,using thr staff vaulted a deep ditch, and to get round where I was going had to paddle across a wide stream, and no siteing of the Super Air.Its still looking suspiciuosly like it is in the rape seed.We are not allowed to search through this crop, but if we saw it we can .then figure a way of retrieving it.When it went in after a dead stick last week as soon as you were high enough to see across, the tail showed clearly ,but not this time. There are now about 5 models in this field,we may have to wait until th farmer cuts the crop.My confusion is I lost the Magnatilla under similar circumstances and that was 40 feet up a tree in the next field, hence my searching in vain.Interestingly, all this walking is helpingmy back, its not aching so much |

4628 forum posts 822 photos | Reading Timbos thread of the sad and short lived Fly Fly Hawk I can see his and Dusty have a plan coming together.Having at present lost the Super Air,Im in Limbo.Yes I have flown my Mentor and Pioneer, but I feel a step backwards and cant make any plan to go foeward until I find it.Timbo saw the fault occur which resulted in the crash.I saw mine disapear out of control behind the trees. It seems impossible to guage what happened next.My magnatilla did the same thing and I found it over in the next field 40 feet up a tree.It was the wrong side of the tree as well So, if the Super Air missed the tree how far would it have flown from there.Trouble is it could have gone in 100 yards further either way and its somewhere completely different. My point is Im doing an awful lot of walking instead of flying, whereas Tim has been able to move to the next plan.

4628 forum posts 822 photos | My instructor flew my mentor over th fape field and wiggled the wings every time he was in the position he thought it had gone down when we were flying it,It points to the middle of the rape seed field.Have to wait about 2 weeks |

4628 forum posts 822 photos | I have a new area to search but not sure how to tackle it at present have to recce the area first to establish what possibilities there are.Another club member arrived with a Super Air today and had a couple of problems.Had a dead stick first but was able to land it perfectly. Then lost power on take off and it flew almost out of the field before he was able to land it ,looked very stable and suffered no damage, apart from pride |

1: Buy Loc8tor things and fit to models.
2: Buy a decent size ELECTRIC plane for carrying a small video camera
3: Buy a decent size ELECTRIC plane for carrying a vertically mounted digicamera controlled from TX. Use flying straight across Rape field, count pics, noting distance out.
Talk the club into getting item 2: or 3:
Item 3: might be best.

4628 forum posts 822 photos | Hi flytibloke yes you are right, yesterday we flew a Mentor over with a video camers mounted on the underside ,but I didnt get the view when they played it back.I did get the area they thought they may have seen a wing possibly so Im taking a set of alli steps to the site and walk to that area to see if I can see anything.I did just pop there but as I arrived it poured heavily so may be later |

4628 forum posts 822 photos | Had to work late Saturday and do the weekly shop after so no time to go to the field.Run out of options really. As Andy pointed out, after the weather weve had lately I probably will be looking at best a wet warped model,at worst bitsleft after the combine eats it.But I crave and end to the saga, whatever it might be! |

Some one out our club lost a model in the rape it was there for months. We trampled through the crop looking for it but could not find it. Several of us were there when the crop was cut and the it was only about 30ft from the edge of the the patch. The combine driver spotted it and stopped so that we could retrieve it. I think the moral is to make sure you are there when the crop is cut.
Now the bad news: It was an electric model and the motor and the lipo were both trashed. Not sure if the servos were any good and the airframe was soaked and useless. Edited By Bruce Richards on 19/07/2009 08:49:36 |

1132 forum posts 16 photos | we lost a model in a full grown rape field and four of us spent one and a half hours looking for it, we found it and went home very hot and tired, full grown rape is the pits to get through you more or less have to swim through it. next day i put my trainer down two hundred yards into the same field, we went looking for it with evertbodies curses ringing in my ears. as we got close to the plane i could hear the engine still running, the engine ran on till we were six feet from the plane. the funny part was the engine was an MDS40 ![]() |

4628 forum posts 822 photos | Im at the point where I dont expect to find anything thats much good now.My engine has probably stopped Phil its been getting on for a month.I wonder if you would have found yours if the engine had stopped. We are not allowed into the rape so that doesnt help |

1010 forum posts 62 photos | That is one big field
![]() Plus side is the rape may have protected the model to some degree from the rain we have been having.
Hope the harvest begins soon Stephen and the farmer spots it for you.
