2436 forum posts 947 photos | Hi Terence, Daithi, They haven't decided if it's going to be a stand alone mag or incorporated with another yet, it all depends on what interest is shown. For my part and everyone knows by now I'm a general FF fanatic as well as RC model builder / flier, but is there enough interest outside of the purist element of FF and CL. Are we looking at an elitist publication for the purely contest minded amongst us or a wider readership?. Compare the size of the FF Nats and the RC Nats to gauge the level of interest or maybe the Mayfly and Sam's meetings amongst others gives a clue of what's hot and what's not. There's already enough RC, electric flight, silent flight, scale mags on the shelf to spark an interest. Cheers, Chris. |

2428 forum posts 34 photos | Freeflight and control line are two aspects I would have expected RCM&E to take up with the demise of Radio Modeller but it appears nobody was interested as they are looked on as minority, all magazines appear to be bothered about is the latest r/c offerings wrapped in brightly coloured plastic or some pieces of molded foam in a bilious colour scheme. People forget where all this came from, as me granny used to remind me, whatever you do or wherever you go never forget your roots and virtually all magazines could do with a reminder as to where the roots of todays fancy gear and flying plastic are. |

557 forum posts 14 photos | It's already announced that it will be stand alone and bi-monthly (they're also looking articles and submissions). I strill mess round with rubber powered stuff (and old KK plans) ostensibly to get the grandkids interested in a bit of balsa-bashing. In fact right now I'm experimenting with sub-mini gear and trying to convert a Junior Scale SE5 to 3 channel electric - just to see if it's feasible) |

2436 forum posts 947 photos | Hi Terence, I hear what your saying, but I cant help feeling that Aero Modeller as we knew it has had it's day. If it were to come back it would have to appeal to to more than the purists in all non RC disciplines. TBH all I used to read until recently was the FF columns and there didn't seem to be much new coming out and the interweb was a much wider source of information than a mag would ever be. We'll have to wait and see what level of interest there will be, and I'd like to see it come back, in what form I'm not sure. What is for sure it would need much more support than it has enjoyed in the past few years to make it work or it will disapear forever. Cheers, Chris.

2428 forum posts 34 photos | As an aside, what I am trying (weather permitting) is to build a Westwings kit, rubber powered but with micro servos for eli and rudder, micro receiver and small lipo, this allows my grandson to fly the model but no fear of it running away, it gives just enough flight time for him to learn from before it needs to land. |

2428 forum posts 34 photos | Hi BB, its the 'Sapphire' which is easy to build and repair, I bought a WW Spit 22 and the 'Sapphire' off Ebay for 8 quid and both had the plans missing, apart from that they were untouched, WW sent me a Sapphire plan and I already had an untouched F22 so will not need the plan but may get one copy done next time I am at the reprographics shop to complete that kit. It will be a while before I get back to it though, presently halfway through building a 1:10 Ki-61/2 and a 1:10 Spit F22, then there is the new fuse for my Tai'ki glider, wings to cover for my Raven 3m, my half built FB111A sloper plus a lot of other jobs like a new set of tailfeathers for my Phoenix., results of a cartwheel landing. |

Tai'Ki? Do you get a black belt along with that? |

2436 forum posts 947 photos | Hi Terence, I gave the kid next door the WW Sapphire as I already had a shed load of rubber powered kits mainly original KK stuff with a few of the wing leader series from WW. I did buy an eRC Spit for an indoor tool, but anyone thinking of buying one, don't bother unless you have a hall at least 50 x 100 metres. I did consider robbing it of the 2.4 RC gear but it has it's own tranny on mode two and I fly mode one (not transferable either). I would have been better off getting a minimum of some sort for my Speccy gear, and possibly using the gear out of that for converting a rubber powered kit. I'll just play with it on the patch on calm evenings or give it to a mates grandson who's into Spits to hang up. There's a Flair Spit Mk 5 and FW 190 that I've not built yet which might be OK for a conversion job, I just need to sort out some gear to go in them. Cheers, Chris. |

2428 forum posts 34 photos | Hi Daithi, this is Tai'ki, originally 1.43 mtr span I enlarged it to 2 mtr, I built the fuz but somehow didnt like the end product so out came all the gear and submitted it to my version of a car crusher, a size 9 boot. When I have the patience I will build a new fuse and finish the wings but right now a Ki-61 and Spit F22 are taking all my time. Tai'ki owes a lot to the old 'Bird of Time' but has a totally different structure and is fitted with ailerons, you can download the plan free from www.jivaro-models.org which is a french site but Bugle does a pretty good job of translating.

2436 forum posts 947 photos | Well, Spent last weekend decorating or rather stripping paper off the hall stairs and landing, and all was going well untill the steam stripper gave up the ghost on Saturday afternoon. So onto the interweb and ordered another one from screwfix. As I'm surfing the net and looking on the model sites, I tried Hurricane models and found the PZ Spitfire 9. The missus looking over my shoulder said I do like that, I says so do I and she says have it then, I'll pay for it. To shorten a long story I gets home today, and find a ticket from Fedex, I goes to pick it up and sorted ! I'll order the retracts later.
Might even get some decorating done at the weekend Cheers, Chris. |

2428 forum posts 34 photos | I think I am giving up phoning so called handy men out ot the paper as they are just not reliable, none of three we have employed have done a proper job, the latest is a so called gardener who managed to chop through the cable for the TV system. We lost the TV, phone and broadband for two days, before that we employed a plumber who managed to flood the hallway and ruin the new floor, left a leaky radiator and never came back to finish the job after I complained, employing people because their rates are low is false economy, it usually ends up costing more in the long term so the 'phone fred on 0123 XXXX' is a bad move. |

(Must be kept somewhere sheltered I would think,) Was it this one by any chance, R? I've seen it at Blackbushe and flying in North Hampshire from time to time - it's normally in the middle of the air park, clearly seen from the A30. Pete |
