809 forum posts 2214 photos | yes its kinda depending on the type of profile but the profile we will be using is a little hollow and will be fine with 1+ for both top and bottom wing and the stab at 0.
With this type of profile you would not see or feel much differance when you go for a +1 lower wing and a 0 lower wing which should give a later stall for the top wing.

| 2 forum posts | Hi Danny and Ton,
Nice project you're doing here! Ton will draw me a DH-83 Fox Moth, so the wings and tail can be copied.
(little explanation: I'm a modelling collegue/friend of Ton, flying on the same field. We usually help each other with our projects ) |

| 1950 forum posts 95 photos | The Fox Moth 3 view by Roy Tassel at 1/48 scale is in RC Scale Aircraft Dec / Jan 1993 together with the article for Malcolm Hardings 59 inch span Fox Moth plan no RSQ 1700. The same 3 view was avail at 1/36 scale from Roy Tasssel at that time. Danny. I have the magazine mentioned above............ |

must check not sure but I think that I have that 3View already including the article,
what I really need are cross sections.
Danny,
Good news received the 3view today not super it looks like a copy from a copy but 100% better than I had untill today.
So looks like can have a go soon.
Just a question about the construction and build ; do you want a fast build with mostly cnc parts or a little modified construction as per plan you already have.

4784 forum posts 1655 photos | Hi Ton, the model is for us so you must say what you want too Personally, I think a faster build would be nice. I am not going to go mad as I have enough long term projects. If we drop the hinged wings then I wont be overly dissapointed. I am worried about the wings though. Those ribs are so thin. The flying wires will have to be functional if we use that aerofoil. If we want to go mad then we can with the detailing. And if somebody else wants to build on without the detail then thats good too. Looking forward to making all that cowling in anneled lith plate |

4784 forum posts 1655 photos | Been very quiet on the Moth front, you still keen Ton? |
| Ton van Munsteren | 17/08/2011 22:05:19 |
809 forum posts 2214 photos | Hi Danny,
Yes still keen but for the moment modelling is a little on hold.
Iam working on the bathroom and that's a lot of work, making good progress but still some work to do and its a big mess in my workshop.
Can do a little every now and than and did finish my Corby Starlet to send in to RCME so thats one of the cadboard.
The DH60 keeps on spinning in my head and iam also a little confused so here is a question for you Danny, do you know if the fuse of the DH60's is fully sheeted with plywood or is it steeltube with linen / nylon or what ever.

4784 forum posts 1655 photos | Hi Ton, glad the enthusiasm hasn't faded. I know what family stuff is like and it must come first don't worry ![]() The earlier DH60 was wooden framed with ply turtle decking and fabric covered if I remember correctly. The first steel tube version was the DH60M The reason I am enquiring is the Spitfire is nearly done and my building board is feeling lonely, not sure what to start/finish next ![]() Cheers Danny |

| 278 forum posts 11 photos | Hi Tony, I see the mention above of the possibility of setting the upper wing at a little lower incidence than the lower wing. I am slowly working on a Fokker Dr1 to the A Lunn design from the plans service. (RC 1213) It appears that one problem with the full size design was that the upper wing was doing more than its share due to all three being set at the same incidence. I therefore wonder if the model might benefit from some adjustment to the angles of incidence...if so do you have any suggestions as to how much? It seems to me that since the upper wing has the ailerons, if that stalls first it is going to lead immediately to a loss of aileron control, plus the extra drag high up is going to pull the nose up, making matters worse. I think actually the Dr1 would also have benefited from the addition of an extra bay to the fuselage, as was done for the DVII. Might have made them a little easier to land without ground looping! Still, I guess it is a bit late to redesign them now. regards John |

I have an OLD David Boddington 36" plan for the Cirrus Moth.
You going to get the plan published at the end?

4784 forum posts 1655 photos | Hi Hugh, we are hopefully doing these at 1/6 scale which will result in a wingspan of around 60" I am not sure what Ton's intentions are for the finished plan. Cheers Danny |

809 forum posts 2214 photos | Hugh,
As Danny mentioned already the size will be about 60" and yes will for sure make it a plan for RCME, but we are still a long way from that.
Danny,
Not much progress but have set the coordinates from the Raf15 profile in Cad and am still brainstorming on the construction and have already some ideas of how doing things.
But first have to clean up the 3View and set things up in basic lines.
