Hi All.
Its fun time a couple of days ago i set my self the task of designing and building a 36" span EP model for less than £25 all in eg lipo, esc, motor, servos, and all airframe materials.
Well it took less than 8 hours to build and i have had three successful flying sessions with it today.
The fus forward of the wing T/E is made from foam pipe lagging has any one else done this before ?.........it works .

Don't be daft Tony your own designs are really good particularly as you haven't built or flown a model for year.............s,
A bit more flying practice with the easy models and you will be well away, keep up the good work .

Hi BEB.
Will post some photos tomorrow ...pipe material and completed model .
Here are some stats on the model.
Span 36"
Chord 8"
W area 2 sq ft
Length 38"
W L 4.5 oz per sq ft
Power 40W
AUW 9 oz

Surprisingly it performed well into days windy conditions ,and impeccably at 9pm this evening when the wind dropped to 2-3 mph.

Hi DF.
Don't get to excited lol its cheap flys well but not a glamour model,......if you know what i mean,.
I designed it as an air experience tool, for people that have aspirations but have never flown tried it out on such a person this evening no problem no damage the foam pipe fus just bounces.
How is good golly miss.....
Cheers
Tom.

Good golly is just fine thx Tom my little gardening sideline has taken off quite well, so much so that i have very little free time at the moment, still it's good!

Martyn Sharp was so kind and gave me a wing dragon just over 2 weeks ago, but i have not had the time to try it out! or to arrange a get together with Martyn for a good ol modelling chin wag

Anyway i ramble lookin forward to the pics or maybe even a vid for this latest creation of yours!

You are too hard on yourself Tom, it flies does it not? it serves it's intended purpose does it not? then it is a fine piece of work form a fine sculpter Tom

On the other hand, if it looks like a straight boomerang, you will have to be punished!!!! (no pressure)

OK after the late evening fun here is the foam pipe lagging used for the fus.

Weight 0.35 oz per ft ,its light !
Diameter 2 in .
Wall thickness 0.5 in .
Internal hole diameter 0.9 in .

The material is water proof and has a ready cut strait line along the length this is a usefull reference and is ideal for inserting a keel.

Cut outs are simple and quick ,using a razor saw or balsa knife.

This was done very quickly as a try out ,a neat job can easily be done.
Wing  dowels are bamboo skewers ,the 1/2 x1/8 spruce keel can just
be seen and the motor mount is a light ply disc .
