Just bought this for grandson. Radio, chargers, starter, Irvine 46 all work fine, no marks or repairs needed. There are some bargains out there?

This looks like another case of a trade seller leaving a listing running whilst he has run out of stock but setting the price to a ridiculous level to ensure nobody buys it. Apparently it's cheaper to do that than to close the listing and then restart it when more stock becomes available.

Check the purchase history for the item and you'll see that he sold a few in Aug/Sept 2015 for £15 a go, then some more in December 2015 for £9.99 each and finally more in June/July 2016 at £14 each.

A club member has just asked whether it would be worth looking at this.

It is only 15 miles away.

I told him that it wasn't worth the cost of the petrol but t is a good laugh.

Look at the sellers other items. The Veco engine is a total wreck.

Peter, you misunderstand. The man is a specialist, in selling junk found in a very damp garage! Each item he is selling is unique. For example the bench rebate plane Stanley no 10 appears to be broken on the right side of the casting and the cutting iron is pretty much worn out. The first rebate plane without its cutters is effectively worthless unless you happen to have some cutters. In fact in my area with our new waste collection and recycling regime the bin men could well refuse to take the Pitts special and the Veco 61!!smiley

Remind me, who was it who wrote that rather neat article, "Don't bin it, fix it"? smile p

True, true! Bur I do wonder how much rot there is inside. I will repair my own models and some others but there are limits. And bearing in mind the stae of theVeco 61. Not worth wasting money on it.

I have to agree! lol. There is a limit to what can/ought to be repaired.

This looks very like the scams from last years.

I don't see how that works as PayPal will refund and chances are eBay will remove the listing. I bid on something recently that had a retail of £30 and was listed at £8, I thought that the best that would happen is the item would arrive and it was legit or the worst that I would end up opening a dispute and be refunded. As it turned out eBay cancelled the transaction, removed the listing and the PayPal payment did not go through.

Last year there were three of four Chinese sellers offering brand new engines atgive away prices. Several people including me paid up. WE did get our money back but it was a scam as we suspected.

I saw this when it was a legit UK listing. This seller is in China with 0 feedback. Chances are eBay will remove the listing, I have noticed quite a bit of this on eBay recently, sellers with no feedback selling items at prices that are too good to be true.

The fraudulent seller doesn't even have the gumption to remove the date which the original seller added some information. Pasted in below.

WE HAVE HERE AN EARLY LASER 60/70 FOUR STROKE ENGINE, IT HAS NO MARKINGS TO CONFIRM ITS SIZE, THE 60/70 SIZE IS FROM TALKS WITH LASER THEMSELVES,THE ENGINE IS BEING SOLD ON BEHALF OF A MODELLERS WIDOW HENCE I DIDN'T
KNOW THE SIZE.THE MODELLER WAS A VERY PARTICULAR MAN AND HIS EQUIPMENT REFLECTS THIS.

I WILL SELL WORLD WIDE BUT OVERSEAS BIDDERS MUST GET IN CONTACT TO CONFIRM THE POST AND PACKING COSTS BEFORE BIDDING.

On 11-May-17 at 23:00:27 BST, seller added the following information:

P&P Will be processed by 16/05/17 due too work.

Crikey, that was quick, it has already been removed, I did report the listing as fraudulent about 10 minutes ago. The seller had also listed as a buy it now for £21.63, too cheap even for an old engine.

Be careful out there.
