Hi All.

You know all those nearly forgotten model parts in the loft or shed ? well every time I come across such items it makes me feel something should be done to tidy things up .The usual thought is .....ought to make something of them but cannot be bothered, or on the the other hand should bin them but hate throwing away wings in things that have given many hours of good service. Anyway a few days ago I came across a tail set and moment arm from a very old Speed Air 40 and some Extra 320 wings that were orphaned from there totally destroyed fuselage then as the wind blew and the rain came down I started to imagine in my minds eye how these parts could be resurrected into a decent flying model .The rain continued relentlessly so out with the balsa stock ,a few quick sketches and work commenced to build a mid and forward fus section to suit a Ripmax u/c and e-max 500w motor that were currently unemployed .

Two days latter I test flew the "Bitsa"and was very pleasantly surprised how well it flew ...smooth positive control responses and no bad traits at all .

Most of us have done similar things so I thought it would be interesting to invite others to post their "Bitsa" exploits.

My Speed Air Extra 320.

I made a bitsa from the remains of my Wot 4.....the crash broke the wing & the fuselage but the tail was undamaged.....

I drew & built a new fuselage, fitted the tailplane & fin from the damaged model & cut the damaged section out of the wing & re-joined them..... For an engine I used an old OS32 from a heli c/w heatsink head.

So its kind of a Wot 3 1/2.......teeth 2

Flies really well & cost me nothing.....but as I've flown it I've really started to enjoy throwing it around & although it owes me nothing I really don't want to crash & destroy it.....stange....dont know

Steve

I found the same thing ....it must be the fact that the models are mainly of our own creation ,so despite the slightly strange appearance and uncoordinated decor we value the model more than the originals that came out of the box.

Absolutely. "Proper" modelling at its best yes

I've got a Super Air wing and tail awaiting very similar treatment wink

Are cut and shuts not illegal?

Not if the constructor can demonstrate the model is fit for flight ,or should you have added a wink at the end of your post wink 2.
