One of the problems with buying an ARTF is that you don't know how the thing was constructed and I have a small problem with my 64" Chippy.

after hitting a rather bad bump on the runway my fixed undercarriage now swings backwards about two inches at the wheel.

I'd rather not start chopping into the wing but I think it be unavoidable. I had thought of pouring thin cyano into the u/c wire hole to solidify the wood then putting lots of epoxy down before returning th u/c.

Not sure though. Anyone taken the wing apart on one of tese? Can you describe the u/c block?

thanks

tony

you will need to remove the covering. Pouring glue down the hole and hoping for the best is not a good way to fix this.

Hi

Sounds ominously like you have dislodged the mounting block for that much movement. I did have trouble with the undercarriage getting a little loose because the holes got stretched and this was easily sorted with a little epoxy in the holes. The covering is Oracover so you'll need to buy, beg, borrow or steal a bit of grey for patching up.crying

I did put some vaseline on the legs before replacing them in the soft epoxy but they seem to be stuck fast and you can't get any twist with them being in slots along the wing so if you do fill the holes after securing the block it might be an idea to leave them raised slightly until the glue dries so you can make sure that you can give them a twist to facilitate later removal.

happened to a mate of mines chippy from dark horse, i didnt see it, but can only guess, from conversation, that the torsion block that came off the rib, rotating the leg backward, the main block was intact, before you start chopping into the wing with gusto, where the vertical part of the leg goes--erm--vertical, cut the film there, and see if the block is off the rib,

i would not bother trying to match the film either, cover it in black or red, make it look like it should be there, sometimes, the best way to take peoples attention away from something is to make it that obvious they dont look twice
