Returning to model flying after an impulse buy at a car boot sale

I've been a member on this forum for a few years now and was temporarily grounded a couple of years ago due to issues in my private life that left no time or cash for flying. I however made an impulse buy at acarboot sale 2 weeks ago and happy to say the bug has bitten again
Now to give the heli buffs a laugh

I remember you, Phil - good to hear from you again!
You clearly haven't lost your touch - you might find something like the HK Phoenix 2000 would serve you better - when it comes back in stock! Pete
PS You really should do something about that wallpaper................

1358 forum posts 141 photos | Hi Garbo Yes I'd spotted that and I'll stand correction but I'm sure I saw it in the uk warehouse yesterday I'd best go check are you suggesting it would be a good vehicle for returning to the hobby. only issue I see there is I'd need to upgrade my current tx (a 4 ch 2.4 GC number that at pres I use for my not so small fleet of model boats) not necessarily a problem Phil |

1358 forum posts 141 photos | Hi Pete thanks for that I must admit a 2m beast looks good reminds me of a hotliner version of my old favourite hack the westwings fournier rf4 which to be fair served me well back in the day just not sure I want to spend all that time building one hence the thoughts on a foamie to get me back in the air. thanks for the comments on my flying. I actually impressed myself and rapidly discovered the limitatations of 3 over 4ch on these micro helis. this one definately dislikes back wash from close proximity to a wall and the lack of a swash plate means the sideways drift requires a rudder then forward stick imput to correct rather than a simple lean on the cyclic hmm had some close calls negotiating the stairway due to that lol
Just spotted your comments on the wallpaper Pete won't tell my wife lol Phil Edited By Phil Winks on 19/09/2012 21:42:11 |

497 forum posts 34 photos | New stuff arrived today but I cant find the B2 as I said I am waiting myself. I check arrivals regulary and as soon as it appears I'll let you know. You could buy from HK and pay the higher postage, but I'm in no hurry. I fly with a Futaba FASST transmitter and a selection of Futaba/frysky/corona/HK orange receivers. For the foamies I usually use a frysky/orange receiver that costs about 14quid |

1358 forum posts 141 photos | thankyou Josip though to be fair these newer breed of gyro assisted 3 ch heli's seem to be quite a bit easier to fly than the older ones

1358 forum posts 141 photos | Hi all many thanks for the kind messages and advice I think all things considered I'm going for a Hobby King Bixler 2 and will prob team it with a 6ch set so I can upgrade to flaps. quite likely I will at some point fit at least a video camera for a little added interest. all thats required now is for them to come into stock in their UK wharehouse. Still with the weather deteriating for winter there's no hurry. To while away the winter months in my soon to be ready new workshop I've decided to build a depron prop and slot park jet I found the plans for on rc groups via an interesting build video on the flite test web site. I believe I've seen this model before and looks a fun project
Of course now comes the question ! where's best to get depron and carbon rods etc. most of the info I had on this sort of stuff has been lost one way or another Phil |
