For those interested, please find some background information about me.
After some Graphical & Interior Design College back in the seventies, I redirected my professional life into the Sales Depts of several multinationals located in Brussels & Paris, also keeping an earlier interest in restoring vintage (as a student, my first car was a 2CV!) and race cars.
After building up my own cars and racing them for more than 20 years, I designed a modern Dune Buggy loosely based on the first design of Californian guru Bruce Meyer. Called the 'Sunbuster', it was specifically developed for tourist rental in warm(er) countries. Visiting Madagascar & Mauritius concerning the building licenses for the Sunbuster, I first came in contact with my next job/hobby: sportplanes (1:1 scale)!
In real life, I have been flying Ultralight & EXP 2-seater planes & building, modifying/upgrading them (especially engine & aerodynamics) for an Italian constructor named Fly Synthesis till 2006.
A few years ago, I was donated a - 20 years old - vintage/crashed Graupner Busard 60'' balsa RC glider from an old(er) gentleman. I then decided to restore it, find the missing bits & convert it to 2,4 GHz and modern power-train. So, internet, Google & YouTube became 'my best friends' and, after finding this forum during my quest, Peter Miller’s Ballerina became my first RC scratch-build ever...
... and then it became a matter of trying to remember the sine rules for my motor mount offset, attempting to comprehend the differences between hard balsa and lite-ply or eagerly reading the manuals allowing me to understand how to bind an RX for my first time ever...
After a long learning & building curve, the Bella Ballerina got finally completed during the Summer 1917 and is ready for her maiden. Being my first build and after more than 16 months 'ups & downs' to finalize the Lady, I'm certainly a bit proud 'to have reached the top of the mountain' without letting go the builders 'mojo'.
UPDATE (Winter 2017/18) > After a short intermezzo to build the ChtiCat Indoor Racer, I just started the Vicomte 1916 build, a Belgian 'revival' of the famous Svenson Vicomte 1915 vintage kit.
Really wondering now what next winter will bring along? ... a Hawker Fury perhaps?
