The May issue preview

In the shops 11/4

The May 2008 issue is packed to bursting with goodies including the following reviews -

  • SebArt Katana 50e - Mike Williams has a dose of Italian flair
  • O.S. 56 Alpha - Brian Winch looks at a new generation of four-stroke motors
  • NPM Juka - The 3D aerobat that's a little different
  • AT-6 Texan - The new 'platinum' scale model from E-flite
  • Tandem Z-1 - The PiccoZ helicopter has grown!

Among all your regular favourites we once again have some great columns and features starting with a report from the Large Model Association's spring seminar. In Flaps for All Jim Newman, a full size and R/C pilot explains when flaps should be deployed and what they can do to help the flyer while Tim Mackey concludes his excellent electric flight tutorial.

In Need for Speed Andy Ellison describes how he fitted the jet engine and electronics into his new Rookie Mk.2 while Peter Lowe returns with his column for traditional builders. Our Give it a Whirl helicopter column tackles the confusing subject of separate receiver battery packs and Nigel Hawes builds a traditional Cessna for electric power and compares this to a new ARTF Pitts Special in his Fly Electric column.

There are two free plans this month as we bring a new dogfight double from Tony Nijhuis! His Mig-25 Foxbat and English Electric Lightning pusher prop-jet models make great sports-scale projects, are easy to build, look good and fly well. Tony describes building and flying the models over the next two issues. Click here to see the models.

Be sure to pop along to your newsagent or model shop and pick up this latest issue of RCM&E for just £3.80. Better still, why not save yourself some money over the long run and subscribe?
