  1. Did you check how much charge went into it? If that was what you expected that is a bit worrying. I've ddcided to use Eneloops for NiMHs but I also use 2 cell LiFes and LiPos. So far, touch woid, not suffered your problem. I didn't like yo use NiMHs that had not been used for a year or else do a cycle to check capacity.
  2. England were too inaccurate to capitalise on the many strong positions they held. Congratulations to Scotland on an emphatic win. Finn Russell and Duhan van de Merwe were the outstanding contributors to the score sheet.
  3. Well, all to play for in the 2nd half. Who wants it most and will England cut out the handling errors? Van de Merwe's 2nd try was pure pace!
  4. I think the outcome of the next match rests with how England perform. We know the Scots will be on the top of their form against the auld enemy!
  5. I'll start the ball rolling today! Can't see Wales winning against Ireland so I think that should be a done deal. England/Scotland on the other hand is very difficult to call. Scotland always seem to play out of their skins when facing England and England seem to be tentative when they've played Scotland in the last few years as they've tended to lose. My feeling is that England will win this by a very narrow points margin but it could easily go either way.
  6. The alternative is to retrim twitchy models so they aren't twitchy - quite often reducing the control throws is sufficient but you may also have a rearward CG. I was scared stupid when I offered to recover a chaps Angel 30 when it got too far away for him to see what was going on. I found it almost impossible to fly till I acclimatised to the huge control throws he had. After landing the Angel, beautifully I might add(!), I took him to see how much movement I had on my aircraft. We turned down his control throws to the same as my set up and his flying was immediately improved and the aircraft no longer scary to fly. The other thing is to learn how to land in a gusty cross wind but always be prepared to overshoot if things get out of hand. You can always use the gyro as a back up to dealing with the cross wind yourself.
  7. Plus you have to be "caught" in the act!
  8. I suspect that under the UK spec, assuming it has a CE label, its range will be limited because we are not allowed to have more than 10 mW transmitter output power. I think in the USA you can have 100 mW of power but that is illegal in the UK.
  9. Continuity is the best way of learning anything.
  10. Toto You are finding that the weather forecast is far from being something on which you can rely for more than one day ahead and, in some cases, only on the day! This is not to do the weather forecasters down but merely a reflection of the highly complex nature of our weather which continues to defy the best efforts of man to forecast it accurately.
  11. QED. Coming to an address, called your own, soon!
  12. That's how people designed aeroplanes before the advent of the science of aerodynamics, wind tunnel testing and, now, computational fluid dynamics or CFD. Unfortunately, you need a very powerful computer to run the CFD software as well as a highly trained aerodynamicist to set up and drive the software as well as to create the airframe in a 3D web. It's amazing what this can do for aircraft design but it's far too expensive for use on model aeroplanes - unless we can persuade a friendly prof to get one of his students to take on the task of designing the perfect aircraft for.......er - rubber power, slope soaring, thermal soaring, aerobatics etc. One of these days may be! Till then SWAG and TLAR rule.
  13. That's precisely my point Martin. There are a number of weak links in this chain. Have they covered them?
  14. I'm thinking of an emergency 999 call. They will definitely have a UPS to keep them going. No, I think this is yet another ddcision taken by some pillock who hasn't thought about what happens if.....!
  15. It's on his size 9 left foot of course!
  16. Thanks Bas. I just want to know which genius approved this! At least when you lost your electricity your phone line still worked provided you had an genuine phone plugged into one outlet and not a smart phone. Let's hope that the mobile mast that I would need to use in an emergency will have its own UPS to give it redundancy. Anyone know if mobile phone masts have a UPS fitted?
  17. I understand not wanting to pay for a membership card when it is free. But the Vectis card gets you 4-5 % off your supermarket shop. I have saved at least £130 / year for an outlay of £4 -£5 to buy the card. You can get discounts from a very wide range of providers - I just don't need many of the goods e.g. a few items from Halfords apart from groceries.
  18. Thanks for pointing that out PDB. I never knew that! Interesting that if I hover the mouse icon over the green icon, all it says is Senior. I thought it might say Download to digital wallet or something similar. However, as I don't have a digital wallet on my phone, I'll stick with my Vectis Card!
  19. Andy I think the card to which you may be referring in your OP is the Vectis Card. This costs around a fiver and provides you with discounts from a huge range of suppliers. It also provides a BMFA card in a plastic form like a credit card. You don't need that but by golly it paid for itself in my first 2 supermarket shops as you get between 4% and 5% discount.
  20. Not all refs are Wayne Barnes - sadly. He will be greatly missed. Shame on those who drove him out of refereeing.
  21. After the low cloud lifted, we had a low wind day, albeit a 90 deg cross wind, with some blue patches. Ideal for some more trimming. Today, it was revisiting motor side thrust. To make sure I had wings level I flew directly towards myself and pulled to the vertical and on three occasions the Anthem pulled to the right. Landed and added a bit of left side thrust. A second flight showed a tad more was needed so a tad more added. Only had time to fly one schedule and the revised trim seemed to help.
