  1. Hello Paul, if you type f3a world championships into YouTube you will find lots of videos relating to the subject. Just select the years you want to watch(pre 1984, that’s the year turnaround started). You’ll have to watch quite a few to get the general idea but the information is on there. Good luck, Steve

  4. Hi, instead of binning all your gear why not offer it to your local AFC groups, schools or colleges, local model clubs to be used to get interested people into modelling. Seems to much of a waste to become landfill. Regards Steve

    Radio help

    There are no issues with 35mhz, it is a perfectly useable model frequency in this country,in fact the only one specifically for model aircraft. The issues arise through misuse,poor maintenance and sometimes poor frequency control. There is no justification for clubs not to allow the use of 35mhz. Regards Steve
  12. Without a High Street model shop presence, where does the potentially new modeller go for guidance and advice. The Internet may be able sell and give advice in black and white but I don't think it's a substitute for face to face tuition and guidance. The closure of the LMS will reduce the number of people being attracted to the hobby.
  13. Hi, that is an OPS Ursus, good engine apart from the slide throttle carb. Better of replacing it with an OS unit. Regards Steve.
  14. Hi, just a thought, but try either a finer pitch prop or a smaller diameter prop(10x6/7). The current prop may be loading up in what could be slightly denser air causing it to overheat gradually. I had this problem years ago and the props cured it for me. Regards Steve.

  16. Hi, I was talking to a salesman at a motorcycle dealership last weekend and was told that the law is changing at the beginning on electric bikes. The power limit is being raised to 1000 watts. They're fed up because they have a room full of 250 watt bikes. Regards Steve

  18. The original Gem radio equipment was designed and marketed by Don Slater if my memory is correct. The original Gem propo gear was in a black metal case with, I think Orbit sticks. He was also the designer of raven reer gear as well. The Gem 2-4 propo was one of the early expandable sets that was available at the time. The early sets were sent out with Simprop non if servos which were in a white case. My first sets radio was Gem 2 and a simprop 2+1, I was into boats at the time. My first job from school at 16 was at Mainstream productions in Stockport who were the manufacturers and distributors of the above. Regards Steve
