  1. Well, I tried all the suggestions but to no avail. In fact I think I've gone through every combination possible! No worries, I'll just keep on operating them separately. Thanks everyone for the replies anyway
  2. Hi Chaps, Many thanks for the prompt replies. I will continue to have the flaps on the throttle stick, purely because that's what I'm used to with my other gliders for the crow. I'd only get confused! I'll look for the Sheman Knight guides, thanks for the tip Gary. I'll also try switching to aux2 and 3 - didn't even cross my mind to try that, duh! I will let you know the outcome. It's not the end of the world if I can't have the switchable option, I can just about cope with operating the flaps and brakes separately. Cheers, Pete
  3. Hello, I have a Mick Moore Lunak to which I added flaps as well as some scale-like schempp-hirth airbrakes, and I use a JR DSX9 Tx. I have been trying to program a switchable mix whereby the airbrakes extend as I lower the flaps with the throttle stick. The airbrakes are operated by the right hand side slider, and occupy the aux 3 and aux 4 channels, and work faultlessly. I can get one of the airbrakes to function by mixing flap > aux 3 or aux 4, but the other brake remains closed. I have tried setting up two separate mixes, one for each aux channel (as slave, flap as master), but the second mix never does anything. Any ideas where I'm going wrong? Many thanks, Pete
  4. "Lasers have been held in high regard since I was a kid over 35 years ago - well done, on such a sterling job, and for such a great contribution here on the forum - other vendors take note." Well said Rich. As well as everyone's recommendations and advice in this thread, and also the known reputation of the Laser, it's Jon's honest replies, help and thoughts here that have helped seal the deal as far as I'm concerned - I'd much rather hand over my hard earned cash to someone like Jon, and help support a great UK business at the same time. Jon, one more question then I'll leave you alone (for now at least!) - is there a long wait on the 100, or just the 120? As I said earlier, I'm in no rush but it would help to know.
  5. Thanks guys for the further input - Jon it looks like I'll more than likely be heading your way when the time is right, especially now Piers pointed out the lack of significant price difference between the 100 and the ASP. I only looked at the price on the main ASP page of the JE website, and it showed 181.97 inc.VAT - but click the Add To Cart button and it magically transforms to the 251! I guess the VAT info is wrong. Anyway, I do certainly agree that these kinds of forum posts are invaluable for this kind of thing. To be honest I was expecting perhaps half a dozen quick replies with half a dozen different suggestions, but the info that's appeared has been brilliant. Cheers everyone!
  6. It seems I'm being gently guided in the Laser direction and I have no problem with that at all, it's only the lower price tag of an ASP120 that gets my neck turning the other way! I know, I know - you get what you pay for... Jon, you say your 100 would power the Eagle no problem, but does this take into account the increased draginess of such a plane, rather than just thinking of the 8-10lb weight? I'm not bothered about unlimited vertical performance etc, just don't want it to be underpowered.  Edited By Pete Carpenter on 01/11/2016 09:28:21
  7. Nice pic Justin, thanks. Yep, I can definitely see that going in my hanger in the foreseeable! I must say budget is a bit of an issue Bob, but I've got time to save - and perhaps Father Christmas might help me out with the overall project I'm in Salisbury so only half an hour or so from Just Engines, and Andover too for that matter. Spoilt for choice now!
  8. Wow guys, I didn't expect so many responses so soon! Thanks everyone for the input. So Laser seems to be winning so far then, and thanks Jon for the info straight from the horse's mouth - much appreciated. Just for the record, my initial thoughts were OS, Laser or Saito but at the risk of rocking the boat there's been no ASP mention yet. I guess there must be a reason for that?!
  9. Thanks for the prompt input guys. I can see that glow might win the argument, and this is what I'm familiar with from my earlier IC days. Justin, are you happy with your Eagle - would you recommend it?
  10. Hi All, I've been an EP flyer for years but wouldn't mind delving back in to IC for a change. It's all just thinking and research at the moment, and I'm in no rush, but I'm currently leaning towards the Hanger 9 or Seagull Christen Eagle II 90 ARF, simply because it's a lovely looker and I always wanted an RC one as a kid! The H9 one seems to have favourable reviews, and I know it was reviewed by David Ashby in the June 2012 issue. Anyway, I'd want to go with a four stroke of around 20cc but don't know whether to go with petrol or glow, and then with which engine. Any thoughts or recommendations to help me out? Cheers, Pete
  11. Nige, 111" would be absolutely spot-on! So far MyHobbyStore has specified it as being 4.9m, 111", 6.8m and 134". If 111" is the right one then I'll be a happy chappy Cheers, Pete
  12. Thanks for the responses but I'd already seen those - in fact I contacted MyHobbyStore only yesterday because the wingspan for that one was stated as 4699mm, and then in another sentence it said 111" - I asked which one it was and they said neither, it's 6900mm!! I see they've corrected it now. The 111" option would have been perfect. I'll keep digging.... My Polish isn't that great!! Cheers.
  13. Hi Everyone, I'm feeling the urge to get back in to building and have settled on an LF-107 Lunak for slope soaring, my favourite discipline. The Lunak seems the perfect answer to my desire to build a vintage, aerobatic and nice looking glider - it ticks all the boxes! Ideally I want to build one of around 2.5 to 3m span, all trad construction. I've been to the depths of the web and back and have put some feelers out, but does anyone know of such a plan? Cheers, Pete
  14. Thanks Crispin. Great tip with the one bolt and toothpick
  15. Hi Tom, Yesterday I was out flying my Auto-G and the rotor base plate failed in flight, which was quite alarming! It was only a few flights old and hadn't been stressed by blades striking the ground. Despite spiralling into the field after losing a blade at about 100', the AG wasn't damaged. As a result, i've lost all confidence in the stock replacement part and so I'm looking around at making an alternative. What exactly is that material you have used? I've got some 1/16" ply and PCB material in the workshop - would you recommende either of those materials? (I'll be sticking with the stock blades). Or perhaps GF reinforced balsa? Cheers, Pete
