  1. Just to add some balance here, despite me being one of the contributors on this morning's thread (and still of the opinion of excessive moderation here) I PM'd Pete this morning and to his credit he replied quickly and it was a very thought out, comprehensive and positive reply I have confidence that the topic will be discussed by the management team, here's hoping for a change. As an aside, I bet a friend this morning's thread would be killed by 9, I was only out by 14 minutes

I also agree with TWS too, to a degree, but the over moderation has been going on for years and goes much further than the recent Traplet threads.

Interestingly I've had a PM from someone who doesn't want to post on the thread but agrees with the posts above. It seems a few of us share the same view.

No, it isn't right. I've been censored before simply because I was outspoken enough and they didn't agree with me. I've had tens of thousands of posts on dozens of forums without issue. Far too over zealous here. edited to add: it would be great if this thread could be left open for SENSIBLE discussion with a view to improving moderating rather than it being silentlt removed. 5. Keiran, I'm still not clear why you're grinding this particular axe?
  6. Good luck on the run Steve, is it for fun or charity? Happy to donate if the latter
  7. It'll be a surprise to no one that I won't be there
  8. They're not in it for commercial gain ergo not commercial therefore allowed. If an aerial view of an accident site could help to identify the sequence of events and what happened (and so helping to prevent future ones) why would you have an issue with it?
  9. I did, smart switches. Probably the result of not reading the full thread.............
  10. Posted by Andy Meade on 09/06/2017 09:46:18 I think we have a duty of care with big models to ensure that everyone and everything we fly near is safe. IMHO a 20kg Spit with just one battery should not be flown, and these days falls under the remit of the CAA / LMA. I agree with Andy and take a similar approach of multiple batteries and smart switches to minimise risk, I have a power distribution board in my biggest. For the scratchbuilders among us we invest too much work in big models to lose them due to an avoidable failure.
  11. Has that Phantom wing been stretched, just a tad?
  12. Posted by Andy Meade on 23/05/2017 12:49:20: Looks like it needed some stabilisation, it was all over the place. To be fair he's not as young as he was, reaction times tend to increase with age. Let's not give him a hard time just because of his advancing years.
  13. Is there an option to vote for the UK to be a no fly zone for drones?
  14. Posted by MaxG on 15/05/2017 10:07:38: Could we not have a bit more variety please. Sure MaxG, build a model and come to an event, then feel qualified to comment. It’s great to know that building unique models, travelling 7 hours, then taking time out from flying to take pictures is so appreciated.
  15. I can see that some traders have been invited, is there a list of those confirmed to attend?
  16. Robbie, I rarely buy ARTF's as I prefer to build but the last one, yes I actually did strip off all the covering and checked every joint. The one prior to that was fully sheeted so I boroscoped it.
  17. Posted by Robbie Skipton - Skip Model Designs on 08/05/2017 07:54:32: Lets get one thing 100% clear. If i was not happy with a model after take off or thought that it was unsafe to do something, it wouldnt be done. And you can make that assessment in the three seconds from wheels up to initiating the manoeuvre? What is with the trend these days of pilots of large models putting showboating ahead of safety? Ego?
  18. Thanks Chris, not sure there's a record that needs setting straight, this is just one of those difference of opinion things. You can be sure that everyone from Cessna to Boeing will undertake every maiden flight with a structured approach to ensure that it's fit for purpose regardless of how many times that variant has flown before, models this size should be no different. What would have happened if there was a significant but invisible defect in a piece of wood at a critical load bearing point?
