  1. Ive just aquired a little electric model. Its in a pretty sorry state at the moment. Its only small, about 800mm span at best (allowing for its broken wing). I have little or no faith in the on-board electronics , so in a sense i should write it off. However, i intend to see this little aeroplane fly again. Ive been doing a bit of research and suspect it might be a model marketed by a firm called "G-MEX" in Germany. Basically, its a Piper Cub shaped model, plastic fuz and foam wing. What would you suggest as a decent (but inexpensive) set of kit for this model. As i said, i want to see it fly again, but i am not prepared to spend a fortune on it. Any advice (including "look for the nearest skip") would be most welcome. If i come up with anything i will post it here. Many thanks, John.
  2. ? ... Completely unintended Eric. If i think the previous post can be replied to in one line, then thats all it gets. Ive read numerous of your posts Eric within the various threads on the site. Many of them consist of no more than a couple of words and a smilie! Nothing wrong with that of course if thats all it takes.
  3. Thanks Frank, When ive bought a new book to write all of these numbers in i will let you know how i get on! To everyone like frank that has taken the trouble to contribute to this thread, thanks very much. keep it coming. John.
  4. Both. Safety is my main concern above all else though. I can replace a model aeroplane, family members are not so easy to get off the shelf! I will most certainly look at the sites you suggested.
  5. Paul ... do you want to see my t-shirt!?
  6. Well , im quite tall Paul!
  7. Texas made a good point here though Eric. Although most of us use Windows of some description, others do use other systems! Many people may be in a similar situation.
  8. Paul ... do you want to see my t-shirt!?
  9. Barbara is more popular than Maggie!
  10. As you can see above, Eric obviouusly knows her!
  11. Another update ... 8900dd of you have read this thread at one time or another. A few more and its easier to type in! At the time of writing, only Barbara has been volunteered for the "job" ... When we get to 1000 and no further names come forward i shall offer her the job, providing you lot and the mods have no objections to that.
  12. I dont think i will ever be in a position where i dont buy fuel, mainly because i dont want to be! Ile always fly ic models, but the idea of electric is interesting. Another way to achieve the same end i guess. But a whole new learning curve. John.
  13. Thanks ever so much Chris, You are right. i wont just chuck the towel in at the first problem! Your figures almost made nice reading! i worked out some figures the other day and come up with a higher figure for the basics. My main worry is still batt packs. Are they as awkward as ive been lead to think, or just another component? I certainly have no problem with buying Chinese or British. I live in Germany and buy Austrian at the moment! Ile look into your details on prices and let you know how i get on. John.
  14. Lets please keep the next 1500 on track. I still have a thing or thousand to learn about this electric junk .. i mean stuff! John
