  1. I have bought the Hitec Variometer and the advanced sensor station and attempted to use them connected to a Optic 7 RX in my Multiplex Cularis glider. I have an Eclipse 7 Pro TX which Hitec say is compatible with all their telemetry sensors. However, I am not receiving any beeps when I fly Is the variometer really compatible with the Eclipse 7 Pro? Has anyome successfully used one of these variometers? Grateful for any assistance/advice.

  3. Hi Graham, I bought my plans from: Nexus Special Interest Plans Service Nexus House Azelia Drive Swanley Kent BR8 8HY Tel. 01322 660070 This was about 4 years ago so I don't know if they can still supply them. Worth a call?
  4. I built one of these with the indoor non-aileron wing and had my maiden flight at our club's indoor meeting on Tuesday. Weight was a little heavy at 95g and it needed a lot of speed (by indoor standards) to stay airborne, eventually leading to collision with the gym wall and a broken prop . I added a wire u/c and only had a 340 mah battery both adding to the weight.. It tends to dive while turning so I will mix in some elevator before my next flight. I have some 180 mah batteries coming from robotbirds so that should reduce the weight. I'm building the indoor aileron wing and will try that out next week.
  5. Done a bit more! Tail feathers are straightforward:   But the leading adge is quite fiddley to attach to the ribs and I have a few gaps left. I'll strengthen the joints with gussets before I finish the sheeting. If I was doing this over I would buy shaped balsa leading edges from the model shop and flatten the LEs of the ribs and slot them into shallow notched in the LE strip. Sheeting is also straightforward apart from fitting around the servo housings which I have yet to tackle.   Hope to do a bit more over the Xmas break.
  6. I got KS's book for Xmas about 5 years ago and have been intending to build a Micro T ever since. I'm pleased to say I have finally started construction. Thanks to Tony for the heads-up about the weight of the tail boom. I'll make sure I find a lightweight tube before I invest too much time building the fuze. I followed KS instructions re making an angled workbench and find it very useful. I have started the wing assembly and find the instructions very helpful so far. I decided to use two wing servos instead of KS's single servo with mechanical linkages. This is a bit simpler (albeit more costly) and will allow me to have flaperons with additional control when landing. This required some simple modifications. I moved W1 in the RH wing to make the centre section symmetrical and made holes in the ribs for servo leads. I also replaced the bellcrank supports with platforms to hold mini servo boxes. That's as far as I have got. I hope to have it in the air before another 5 years goes by! Grateful for comments, suggestions, things to watch out for etc.
  7. Hi Pat, No, I am in glider mode throughout the flight. There isn't any easy way to switch between conventional throttle operation and the on-off mode whilst the model is in the air with the Eclipse 7 TX. I have considered flying the glider using the TX's powered aircraft mode. This would allow proportional throttle control but I would lose crow braking, wing camber adjustment and flaperons - all very useful for a 4 servo wing glider.
  8. Thans for all the suggestions. I have just bought a couple of drilled heads from ebay. Delivered in 2 days by a canadian company. I'll try to do a test flight in the next couple of weeks and post a photo of the results.
  9. I am having exactly the same problem that Roderic initially described. I am flying a Multiplex Cularis with the Multiplex power set. I have set the ESC brake to hard braking but I still experience the problem. My transmitter is the Hitec Eclipse 7 and when this is in glider mode it only provides on/off switching for the motor and EPA adjustment for the throttle chennel is not available. Last time I flew it I found that the motor was still trying to rotate slowly after the model had landed even though the power was switched off. Has anyone experienced similar problems using this TX and can anyone suggest a solution please?
  10. I have just completed a Sig Hummer 1/2a racer (see picture) but all three glow heads for the Black Widow engine are defunct. I built the model to make use of this engine and an old 2 channel Futaba radio set that were salvaged from my first model which was a Gentle Lady glider. (It got stuck in a tree, soaked by rain, eventually fell out and was trampled by a herd of cows ) Does anyone know where I can get some replacement glow heads in the UK please?
