Excellent progress Gary, keep at it š

Martins in my club. Top lad Iād have bought it like a shot (if i didnāt already have oneš) they are superb modelsā¦. Been flying mine constantly for last 2-3 years

Hi toto personally I always use a jig. I aim to make them as accurate as I possibly can and find a jig essential if you wish to have the best chance of success As jon says about the wingtip to fin measure test that then relies on your wings being 100% equal to each other I still do it as an initial check but as well as the jig Iāve invested (about Ā£30) in one of those self levelling cross hair lasers (got mine from Lidls ) they automatically level relative to earth ā¦. You just need to level the model with a spirit level then I use the laser to double check accuracy. In the pic below Iāve aligned it with the formers 12, 3, 6 and 9 o clock positions on the removable nose former You can see the laser runs perfectly along the wing tube ā¦.. it is also on the photo running up the tail fin centre line (i now know the fin is perfectly vertically square to the fuse so personally a jig and other tools like lasers will help you make the model to within a perfectly reasonable tolerance best wishes Craig

Craig Carr replied to Rocker's topic in All Things Model Flying
Hi Rocker I have that very model and fitted a JX HV7232MG. From kings Lynn Itās proved to be ultra reliable and no issues. Being flying the model regularly for 2 year now Craig -
This thread is worth a look looks like Martin had the same problem. I canāt recall what I did if it happened to me maybe Martin can remember if heās looking in
-
Hi gary i canāt fully recall now to be honest, I would have to check the plans but from memory are the chocks shown on the plan at different heights at various key locations around the wing? ie I donāt think it was just one chock at 9mm but various chocks at different heights ? I donāt think I had a massive (if any) imbalance .. Iāll dig the plans out tomorrow evening after work and have a look
-
Finally add some fine mesh over the nacelle cheat holes to guard against loose grass and any other FOD blocking up the motors
-
Another tip is to make the access for the battery as wide as possible to that shown on the plan otherwise it can be difficult getting 4S packs in

Ah sadly the retracts are discontinued hobby king retracts They sold additional wheels and all you needed to do was buy another pair, turn the oleo around a quarter turn and use some piano wire and collets to make the double bogey

Use of ammonia when sheeting the fuse will save you a lot of grief i brush on neat and then clamp in place overnight. Next day it holds it shape to within a few mm ready for glue
-
Hi Gsky excellent, Iāve subscribed to your thread if you take your time you will be fine and will enjoy it. I made mine a few year back, one of the challenges is keeping the fuse straight and narrow. Not shown in this pic but I used some angled Ali from b&Q to jig it straight as I added the stringers I think for retracts hobby king did a version that fitted exactly but thatās if they still have them

It was this very thread that put me onto the detectorists, love it. I personally thought the xmas special was excellent, nicely rounded it all off.

I wouldnāt particularly say itās a must, My A400 flew perfectly with all 4 motors rotating the same direction

Incredibly sad news, Alexās weekenders articles were always my favourite. my sincerest condolences

In my 2 clubs I canāt think of anyone who restrains by the wing, models (of all sizes) are restrained via the tail Never seen a tail separate/damaged using this method i made this 22 year ago and it still serves me well, the uprights have copper pipe foam lagging and wrapped off with electricians tape
-
Ive often wondered what happened to Josip (from Croatia).

Sorry to hear Martian but as you say the monitoring has done itās job and the experts are on the case. I fully appreciate the anxiety you will be going through and hope all goes well. Craig

Hello Andy, I had a similar issue with my seagull edge. Needed about 400g. I used some brackets that fit via the engine stand offs as shown below (a picture paints a thousand words ). Drilled to accept cable ties and the lead wrapped in electricans tape to tidy it all up a bit Loads of flights with it now. The other day i had the cowl off and all was still tickety boo with the installation craig

Hello Andy, 4 orders / 4 deliveries, never hit once with duties/fees. As Chris says they are sent in a plain A4 envelope. It might as well be a letter. callie did my Concorde and vampire as well. Craig

Hello Andy Send Callie graphics in the states an email. Tell her the model and scheme you want. If you tell her the wingspan she scales the graphics accordingly. She does vinyl transfer type so itās just the graphic that goes on (no borders etc). She did these for my Vulcan, designed, scaled, printed and posted to UK for Ā£25 all in. The quality is exceptional and worth every penny example belowā¦. All the smaller graphics are there as well if you look on the first pic She wonāt post till youāve seen a draft of the artwork and are happy Craig

Sorry to hear about Myron, I remember him well. He was a member of one of my clubs back when he lived in newcastle please also pass on my best wishes -
Hello Martin, ive made the FOD guard for mine now. I must give it a whirl ASAP Did you try yours with a FOD? Craig

You should get your money back onto your PayPal straight away. A few weeks ago I had placed an order with model fixings but then needed to tweak the order. Got in touch with ian at model fixings the adjustment gave a small refund which was back to papal straight away regarding KLMS Iāve dealt with them over the last few weeks for a seagull edge ā¦. Great customer service over the phone and no problems with my order whatsoever but I did notice a servo I wanted wasnāt in stock despite showing as in stock on their website I therefore now only place orders over the telephone to ensure items are on. But I agree in this day and age real time stock levels on websites shouldnāt be a problem the only exception I have found is both model fixings and nexus hobbies. If their website says itās in stock it always isā¦. Nexus/model fixings are the only company where I place directly through their website ā¦..
