  4. Hi Stephen and John,   I came into 3 function RC after 8 years of standard 4 channel (rudder/ throttle left stick and ailerons/ elevator right). I have always used rudder with the left on take off as the norm. When I built my 3 channel Scorpion, I put my rudder servo into the aileron channel on the receiver and hence, the right stick - the result being that I now have to think during take off to use right stick on the ground.   When I first flew the model, I had to abort the take off due to verring to the right and the flight line. I thought there was something wrong with the model as I had been putting in plenty of left stick rudder- I should have been using the right stick of course. After so long on the left with 4 channel, the only way I can do it is to mentally talk myself through it on take off. Similarly, I know I will have to do the same when I fly my 4 channel models. The trick is to tell yourself that all flying control is with the right and the left is for speed (and height in the case of the Scorpion)   It's a small price to pay to fly vintage 3 channel - but worth it!   Conrad.

About to start moving house today; that includes my workshop which took weeks to set up with benches, lights etc. Luckily I am on half-term hols.   Ken, I love the look and the ethos of these vintage models and after being in the hobby for a mere 9 years, I can see that it is the direction I want to go. Once my workshop is rebuilt, I will be starting work on a Ben Buckle Falcon. I intend to put an OS FS60 open rocker upfront.   Come on guys- you should have some influence on this forum.... let's have a vintage section.   Conrad.

  8. Hi Jim, I'm interested to know if you went for a wider tracking undercarriage. I haven't really had any issues with poor ground handling. Cheers, Conrad.   9. Congratulations Jim, she's a beauty.   I really like the vintage red. Is that a small servo I spy under the tailplane?  Are you using dowls for wing attatchment, or have you adopted another method?   A really beautiful model in a striking colour. Let's hope we can get some weather to enjoy these models.   Surely we should have a vintage section on this Forum?     Conrad.    
  10. Hi Stephen,   When my OS 40 surpass last flew, someone suggested that the engine bearings might need replacing. Is it tricky to do? I wouldn't mind giving it a go over winter.   Cheers,   Conrad.
  11. Hi Trevor,   Just noticed your comment on the basla stock included in your Ben Buckle kit. My Super Scorpion squared stock was not square and I had to replace it. Even some of the wing trailing edges were way off and had to be cut again!.   There is no denying that these kits build into lovely models, but at times, you feel like you are scratch building. My winter project is going to be a BB Falcon, so I am expecting more of the same. It's a good job we know how to bash balsa.   Conrad.

  13. Jim,   12mm might be a little sensitive. Yep, 12cm was where I just about went.

  15. I'll measure C/G properly on the plan tonight Jim. There are two, one for the best glide etc. It is pretty much on the spar though.   Conrad.
