  1. Thanks Andy, exactly what I needed. Cheers
  2. Hi all, I don’t know if this is correct but I was told or read that someone supplies Lipos with main connection of your preference. Don’t like soldering this very important connection. Any info gratefully received. Thanks
  3. Not useless at all Buckland. When questions are are asked on the forum, ALL answers are welcome, it’s like a brain storming session where all the answers are read. Sometimes it is not the most obvious answers are first choice too. I thank you for your informative input.
  4. Thanks both for prompt replies. Yes, I agree longer leads can drop the voltage down but these long leads may cause a hazard. I never blew a plug on my old Cyclon battery and I assumed as due to its age the voltage was below 2v anyway. That’s why I thought perhaps incorrectly that the plug ohmic value and current pull of3 amps may have helped to drop just half a volt. Cheers
  5. For years I have used a 2v Cyclon battery for my glow plug power with no trouble. I have now obtained a new one for this season. Plugs are 1.5 volt, battery is 2volts. Am In danger of blowing a plug, or will the resistance of plug drawing about 3 amps. Reduce volts to a safer level. Thanks
  6. Hi all, As I mainly only fly ic I always use an electric starter. I have seen fliers who love to flick their engines to start. Never works for me though. lol. Just wondered what is best practice when offering up the starter to motor. 1, have starter running, then engage to spinner. 2, fit starter to spinner, then start the starter. Thanks
  7. This is a completed model picture. It’s not mine, so it may not be allowed. Mods please feel free to remove same. Thanks
  8. Here you can see the rods fitted to fus. Cheers
  9. Thanks, just wanted that little push to use the ic job. This model looks beautiful and different. An easy build except the fitting of the wings. This entails tubes in the wings that slides on to rods fitted to the fus. No big problem but fiddly. LoL. Thanks
  10. Thanks Dennis, yes the blue tank is the one. The engine has been run in on my bench during Covid, and as I am ic nut I will most probably use the SC engine. That amount of time will do me Dennis. Photo to follow. Cheers
  11. During Covid I decided to build this 1930 s model. Now practically completed. A SC 30 four stroke for power. I have just realised that I can only fit a tiny Slec square tank for fuel and wondered how much flying time this set up will give me. I also wondered if I converted it to electrics , would I have any longer time in the air. Thanks. ps, plane will be flown sedately lol.
  12. Thanks Frank, did wonder what the pnp abbreviation stood for lol. Most helpful. Cheers
  13. Thanks Shaun, exellent write up and a comprehensive answer to my question. Thank you you. Cheers
  14. As I am new to electrics, I would like to ask this question. Are the Horizan bnf models bound to Specktrum radio. If I was to to purchase one without this specific radio, how much work or cost would I need to use a non Specktrum radio ? Thanks, fly boy3 was Old Flier.
  15. Could be missing something, but I cannot find a topic heading for radios. Thanks
  16. I have always used tiny balsa plane and sandpaper glues to a length of wood. I agree what has been said using these tools. Another tip is to have 3 lines in stead of one then you can see progress as you go along. Also keeping an eye on profile shape. Give it a go, you will surprise yourself.
  17. Hi PatMc. You were correct. My model has a brushed motor installed. Seems to have answered my conundrum too. Will have a little practice with my 2.4Tx first. Thanks all for your help.
  18. Thanks Peter, nice to know there a a good few members still posting, and I too can remember most of them. Yes FlyBoy3 would be a nice gesture by the administration.
  19. Cheers PatMc, will do. Cheers Due to some ongoing problems logging in to the forum, my user name was OldFlier. And for years before that I was FlyBoy3 lol. Hoping admin can sort it soon.
  20. Hi John, the model I was going to maiden is very similar to your photo. It is an E flite/ cherub glider, even has same colour scheme.lol. Thanks
  21. Thanks Peter for really interesting information I was unaware of. Due to m y age and budget I purchased a FlySkyi6 after some internet research. It has no system for range check , other than 2 people with mobile phones at a distance from each other lol. I could have a bit of practice with my new radio gear before deciding which to use. Thank you.
  22. Nice looking model JD. Am I correct in assuming this model is fed by lipo which also feeds esc and you 35mhz receiver ? Thank you.
  23. Hi all, at last have joined 21st century and bought 2.4 gear and a used electric plane , my first. Considering that both are new to me, I am thinking of putting my trusty 35 mhz receiver in to the model and using my Futaba tranny for maiden flight. Would the voltage from the esc be suitable for Fut. receiver, or should I use a separate receiver battery. Thanks
  24. Thanks Shaun, I agree statement on stresses. Love the look of this model and If I do build it this Winter will bear it in mind. At my age I tend to fly my models as gently as I can lol. Cheers
  25. Thanks for promp reply Shaun. Could this plan be used for electric flight, or would it need beefing up in some areas ? Cheers
