  1. I have some v8fr mk1 receivers spare PM me
  2. Yes I totally agree with you regarding valid insurance. It is a must have and there is no excuse for flying without valid insurance.I was only gently trying to point out that membership of the BMFA is not a requirement to having valid insurance.
  3. Quote from one post "I cant see that we couldnt make it common knowledge that there is a meeting of friends at the Orme and everyone is invited as long as they are BMFA members or wont be flying"  Quote from another post " Orme is public access, and is not controlled or policed by any club or whatever these days." There is insurance outside the BMFA
  4. Hi You might get a better response by posting on.South wales slopers  I'm in South Hereford so fly Garway ,Pandy , Skirrid and Black hill . Geoff
  5. "we used to boost our pocket money by returning lemonade bottles to the off licence in the pub." They were the ones recycled from the back of the pub in my case.
  6. Posted by Tim Mackey - Administrator on 24/11/2010 11:27:48: I would like to know a little more about this laminating film technique - Ive often read about it, but never actually seen it used. Is it self adhesive, or what? Obviously its like a sort of heatshrink in flat form form, but what next?If anyone has anymore info, or links etc, please start a new thread over in building techniques, and share the knowledge.  Tim please move this to correct area.  New stuff is self adhesive laminating film . does not srink but also does not strech .apply with hot iron. I have coverd my Wild Thing with it . Smooth and rigid No Cross weave tape . New swtuff 250 micron directly on to EPP no filler or spray on adheasive. see for starters new stuff 1new stuff 2 newstuff 3
  7. Posted by phil tobin on 23/11/2010 22:56:35: I don't know if this is the stuff you need Geoff?   I got a little more done today with the servos fitted in & running the snakes along the outside of the fuze. I've glued them in & filled the fuz so it shouldn't show when the covering goes on. The only carving left is a place for the nose weight to go in & the carbon rods I'm setting inside the fuz at the rear, should have some pics on here soon. I've thought about it & am going to cw tape the from the wing seat forward & use butted strips to get the finish i'm after as Ken did.  Thanks for the link. The easist way with snakes is to put them in the middle before you join the fus. Everything on mine is sealed in the centre. Itresting surgery when I wanted to convert it to 2.4. You can just see the outlines of things if you hold the fuz up to a strong light.
  8. Best way to get hold of a Fish is to have a very good friend  who travels to the states and can bring one or two back hand luggage. I have just recovered my wild thing with "New stuff" and its transformed it  stiffer and smoother. Now looking to get hold of som more "new stuff" to recover my Fishes wings  that do tend to flap a bitAnybody got any to trade ?
  9. Posted by phil tobin on 18/11/2010 13:54:22: Here is the mesh I used, works good!    Mesh ? Mesh? What for? Have I missed something off my Fish ? Edited By Geoff N on 18/11/2010 14:28:22
  10. 11. I'm building a four meter span Discus glider at the moment. The  aileron servo leads will be just under 2 meters each by the time they get to the receiver. think I will do some testing before installing them.
  12. Go sloping flying. Flying a glider without an engine in a 40 mph wind soon sorts out your ideas about updwind and down wind turns, and air speed and ground speed. Engines just complicates matters.
  13. Posted by Geoff N on 30/09/2010 15:02:55: Please seehttp://www.hoax-slayer.com/infant-car-seat-gang-warning.shtml   Gang Initiation Warning Hoax - Infant Car Seat Left On Roadside Outline Warning message claims that criminals in the UK are placing infant car seats containing fake babies on the sides of rural roads as a means of tricking potential victims into stopping their cars so that gang members can rape and rob them as part of a gang initiation. Brief Analysis The supposed warning has no basis in fact and should not be forwarded. It is not an official police warning as suggested in the message. This supposed police warning is nothing more than a UK variant of a hoax message that has previously circulated in the United States, Canada and elsewhere.

Try bigger wheels if the prop is to close to the ground .Gives a bit more crearance and a smoother run if strip is rough.

  18. "Also is it possible that 35Mhz radios have a greater range ? Reason I ask, is that a lot of glider guiders still use 35Mhz sets, and gliding does often see your model as far away from you as it is ever likely to get."  Being a sloper I think the reason  there are still a lot of 35mg sets in use on the slope is not because of range, more  a question of pilot density . In a club situation there can easily be over 20 pilots and consequently a number of frequency clashes. On the slope the numbers of pilots are usually a lot fewer (but of course not always). So there is no waiting  to get the peg to fly . In fact I have seen more shoot downs on on the slope and some very expensive ones than in a club situation . An example two pilots were not aware of each others presence, and the only flyers on the ridge half a mile apart with a rise in-between ,on the same channel ,all OK until one flew along the ridge ............... strike one Tragi. That is the reason I've changed to 2.4 . If you see another flyer on the slope he maybe a mile away, you have to walk over to see what channel he's flying. He may not bother to walk over to you because he is on 2.4 but you don't know till you get there .Orange aerial ribbons are scarce on the slope as they tend to bend aerials in winds above 35 mph. and it can be difficult to see a plain aerial.
  19. Hi,   there was no plan for the P6 just a set of instructions . 1/ don't put a servo in the center of the wing. If you do the servo hangs down below the wing and on the first landing that knocks the wings off the servo will rip the side of the fuselage out. Use two  HS82Mg or similar. Make sure to use metal gear types nylon gears strip very easily on the slope. Servos should be about 2 inches out from the inner end of the Ailerons.  Reinforce the wing around the servo boxes as cutting the servo boxes weakens the wing at this point.(1/32 ply) Slit the veneer to bring the servo leads into the center of the wing, epoxy back together again  2/ cyno drawing pin to end of dowel place in fuselage hole .slide wing down wing seat till drawing pin makes mark on wing .drill wing for wing locating dowel.3/ see 2Wing center  cover scrap balsa?
  20. Hi, I have a whisper that had the same problem. The spar stops at the end of the aileron. no support after that . To fix I removed about an inch of the trailing edge spar at the end of the aileron , its only soft balsa. then using 1/8 dowel pushed wing tip back into shape. wicked some thin super glue in fold area. Then used expanding builders foam to add some extra rigidity. first practiced on two pieces of wood held 1/4 inch apart to get the right amount of squirt only two blobs required.Clamp outside of wing not pressing but just to stop foam pushing wing  apart. Then repair trailing edge spar with scrap balsa.Geoff.
  21. Away from the slope and climbing . er  I think. The pilot
  22. If you have florescent lights on it can cause the servos to buzz. Are the flap / aileron hinges too  stiff? may need gentle application of fine sandpaper to hinge line to make the surgaces move more freely
  23. I wondered where the name Jart  came from. Wikipedia quote "Lawn darts (also called Jarts or yard darts) is a lawn game for two players or teams. A lawn dart set usually includes four large darts and two targets. " So who's the targets? for more info visit the aptley named site below. http://www.tossinggames.com/
  24. Alex,   I was thinking Down the hill on a mountain bike should get enough air speed .That makes you prime suspect for the launch . I obviously miscalculated above 42 oz per sq ft is right so the eurobat is  defiantly a brick .  I cant afford a new engine and I still have the scars from starting this engine with a 20 inch prop by hand.  Already got a 60 inch wild thing.  I'm thinking sell it and put the proceeds towards getting  a Fox or JART
