Hi Cliff, congrats on a successful maiden, I have one waiting to fly also. What battery did you use 2200? I see that looking at your photo of the interior it has the steel slugs in the nose, some apparently had these omitted and it appears to be random as some have had problems getting CG right. Luckily mine has so am aiming to maiden tomorrow.

Gary, if your are going to switch to Hitec, go for the Aurora. I have an A9 and a Flash 8. Brought the Flash on a whim as my itchy finger hit the buy button, I did some research prior too but missed the fact that although it is good radio it is only a reasonably well featured basic starter level set. Not as well featured as the A9. It even say's that on Hitec's site somewhere. Although it has telemetry capabilities they are limited compared to the A9. It is also not upgradable nor has computer connectivity. As for the Aurora A9 & A9X being discontinued this is news to me, Hitec have been selling the A9 alongside the A9X since the A9X came out and they will still fill the gap between Flash8 and 16ch set feature and price wise. So there we go my tuppenny's worth.

I second what kiwikaid said, we fly all year round and now we are past the longest day we should get less wind and with long twilight can fly up until nearly 10 o'clock until about the middle of February. Our club field lies at 45.52' South equivalent to the same latitude as Lyon is North but our temperate climate means we can fly all year. Winter temperature really drops below -5 and that's only after a good frost then the sun comes up for probably the best flying day''s of the year. This thread got me wondering as to what load each type of connector is? A quick searched came up with the following for constant load of these connectors. XT60 = 60amps XT90 = 90 amps EC3 = 60amps EC5 = 120 amps Deans = 50 amps Traxxas = 100 amps Anderson = 30 amps HXT 4mm = 93 amps Interesting as a search on RC Groups showed a lot of people seem to be misinformed about Deans & Anderson types especially, although Andersons were only one that had a max voltage given of 600volts for those of you flying 3 phase mains voltage Haha.

Why change from XT60's? Just changed all mine that were using HXT 3.5mm connectors over to them for safety HXT's can be misconnected i.e. you can short batteries together ask me how I know. If it's current load you are worried about XT's seem to be able to handle loads in excess of 60 amps easily I see others in my club using them on up to 8s batteries. if it's arcing on connection you are worried about no standard connector will avoid it whether it be XT', HXT, EC3, Deans, or Bullets.

Due to a winter of very little flying due to our field being flooded to a depth of 15 feet I placed my lipos in storage charge, 2 of them, both no older than 6 months and one unused have failed to charge on 2 out of 4 cells. After a discussion at the club the consensus is that storage charge is a waste of time as others have experienced similar results and it seems that a charge of 90% capacity is better. Not scientific I know but having seen others comment on this forum and elsewhere to having similar experiences I am wondering if they are right. It is annoying when you do what is accepted practice only to find that it might only be wrong and expensive.

Easier to make your own using self adhesive film and a circle cutter. Find the dimensions here; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Air_Force_roundels Scale them to size using the ratios, cut the largest first and layer them with the smallest circle being last. I have made the fin flashes as well using layering, sprayed them using an airbrush with Humbrol satin cote if the film is glossy. Obtained the film from one of our local signwriters who let me dig through his supply of off cuts for nothing. He printed the lettering for me as well for 10 dollars, cheap as chips.

Stevo, I follow the build blogs on this forum but generally don't comment unless it is one I am building as well, which isn't often as I am a slow builder. Also I don't see the need to fill up the blog with too many comments unless I feel I am being constructive. I do find the blogs on this forum interesting and informative and have picked up on quite a few tips especially when i get stuck on a particular problem. The blogs on other sites annoy me as they tend to ramble off topic (pages and pages of rubbish from the uninformed full of criticism and off topic). Have been following your Stuka build by the way, keep it up good work.

Have had email's in the past from a couple of online stores in the US, Motion RC was one when I was window shopping and checking freight costs. I left something in the cart but did not complete the transaction. Certainly Hi is a bit suspicious. I would go to HK log in and check if there is anything is sitting in your cart, that is if you have actually been there recently.

Yep, our club is now accepting berthage for submarines after over a months winter rainfall in 12-18 hours! There are/were 2 shipping containers under water 14-15 feet deep, hope they haven't floated off their foundations. (One has before). Our cable drum/tables are probably 10kms out to sea by now. The nearby Taieri River went from a low flow of 30 cumecs to over 2000 in 6 hours flooding the lower Taieri flood ponding area, where our club is located. Some equipment has been lost - BBQ etc. Won't be flying for a while and the grass will grow like mad come spring. Not for the first time this happened due to our location.

The other thing to do with DF BF110 is throw the supplied props away and fit Master Airscrew 9X6 three blade props. The HK ones are hopelessly out of balance and will shake the motors off their mountings! They will fit the existing adaptors and spinners with only a little modification.

The tailwheel servo is connected to the two rudder servos by a three way servo lead. W? lead? However on one flight with it after a nice take off & left turn in circuit it sailed on with no response! Found undamaged hanging on a fence by its props after glancing off the tree line - no damage everything seemed to work. Back in the pits found tailwheel no go. Left sitting with power on while checking over, smoke started to appear from rear of fuse. Turns out tailwheel servo had seized & shorted. Causing it to go into failsafe. So cut servo wiring to tailwheel, centred wheel and flew without. Found takeoffs & landings were better without it, so unless you have a sealed runway (ours is v. short grass) I wouldn't bother with tailwheel control. Rudder control is good on takeoff & the tail lifts quickly anyway making tailwheel superfluous.
