  5. Everyone pointed at what they thought was the cause but nobody pointed at the person holding the transmitter!
  6. Looking for clues it was pointed out there was no glue!
  7. The Irish Freak Pointing Competition reached a new high er low. Apologies to Father Ted
  8. Erflog, just another thought if as you say the wing is still as stiff as ever, what about the servos & linkages i.e. servo twitching in flight, loose or binding linkages, poor self centering etc? Excuse me if you think I am trying to teach you to suck eggs!! Regards Kiwikanfli
  9. Just searched all US suppliers I have used before for you Erflog, without success sorry. This is a problem with a lot of suppliers of ARF's & RTF's as quickly as they announce a new model I think they must be planning to discontinue as well. Hobbyking are a prime example. I assume the wing has lost its rigidity? Why not recess & glue some thin carbon rod on the underside to strengthen it, did this on a old EPO? Cessna 180 I have and it flew even better than before. Regards Kiwkikanfli (When the weather improves).
  10. Then I suppose their are those who join just to get out of the house at the weekend.
  11. Ditto that John, no different here halfway round the world, just Human nature I suppose. have seen exactly the same in other clubs not even connected to Model Flying. Yachting, Badminton, Golf, Charity Orgs. No different. Oh unless we have a BBQ!! Then they come out of the woodwork!
  12. You can theorize all you want using science, stats etc. but using the one battery of four in a reasonably priced pack from Wallgreens speaks for it's self I believe. It has lasted (and is still going) for 2 1/2 times longer than standard Duracells, Energisers, Both Alkaline & Nimh and a couple of other random brands I have used. Batteries that cost up to 3X the price of Mr Wallgreens own brand label. Which takes us back to the question raised by fly boy3, are we being ripped off by name brands who perhaps rely on their brand name & marketing hype to convince us that their product is superior to anything else? What's to stop them importing lower quality product and selling them as top of the line? They would make more moola that way would they not? Who is there to stop them? They will keep doing it as long as they can get away with it. I am sure their Chinese suppliers wouldn't bat an eye at shipping 2nd grade or worse product. This of course doesn't apply just to batteries, we have seen it in our own hobby with Servos, Receivers, Lipo batteries and such. Seconds & copies being sold as original. i.e.. Spektrum counterfeit receivers is one good example.
  13. I don't think it is just the UK, I suspect we have the same issue with a lot of products here in New Zealand I use a Gillette wet razor that takes an AAA battery, when new the supplied Duracell lasted 2 1/2 weeks! A rechargeable approx. 3 weeks. But on a trip to the States beginning of August the fresh rechargeable went flat after 4 days, so of to Wallgreens and brought a cheap 4 pack of their own brand AAA's. Now over 2 1/2 months later the first one is still going!! Thought I must be imagining it but no the other 3 are still here in the packet. Speaks for its really doesn't it.
  14. I brought a (cheap) HK magnetic balancer used it until I checked it for true and found the cones were out so after some research brought a Dubro Tru-spin balancer which I have found to be more versatile and of course accurate. It is capable of balancing props larger than most other balancers i.e. ones in excess of 12inch diameter plus spinners etc. This can be aproblem for magnetic balancers where the clearance between shaft and bed is not great enough. Link P.S. Apologies if link does not work but have just changed to Mozilla Firefox so unsure if it worked correctly.
  15. Interesting if you google swastika no auto drop down appear, you have to hit enter to get a reference. My Durafly BF110 came with two unattached separate stickers but the arms were pointing in an anticlockwise direction which I believe are actually a pagan good luck symbol not the Nazi symbol where the arms were in a clockwise pattern. For no other reason than authenticity I left them off.
  16. It will never get off the ground.
  17. My Fairey Fulmar from a 1979 RCM plan semi scale converted to electric ready for maiden. Held by my 97 year old father a former WW2 FAA pilot during the war and in the markings of one he flew.

  19. We all told him not to get Superglue on his fingers but would he listen - Noooooo.
  20. Yep the cause was definitely because the pilot was legless!
  21. No Hitec does not have a system like Spektrum's model match, you have to ensure you select the right model before you fly. The prompt's you get when you switch it on should be enough to ensure you select the right model. Also ensure that no other model is live before you switch on. Ask me how I know!

    Insomniacs?

It's a cunning scheme to confuse those living on the Greenwich Meridian by those of us who are 12 hours ahead!
