  1. Has anyone used a Spectrum DX8 with the PicaSim flight simulator. Cannot fathom the cable required. Appreciate any advice, Edited By Airpaddler on 10/10/2020 08:03:51
  2. I am just using CA with one of the fine nozzle attachments.
  3. Martian - I too have just finished the Sturmovik. Looks as if you have made many more than me. I would like to do the Spitfire Mk1x soon. My printer is also a Prusa Mk3 i3s. Which have flown? I am just now printing the Eclipson Model T in white PETG by way of a trial. Did you ever try it? Edited By Airpaddler on 17/09/2020 13:05:04
  4. Simon - Have also printed rib only and depron covered. I printed in, the ferrules to support a 12mm carbon wing brace rod. Worked quite nicely and is good for alignment of the rib profiles. Also looking at the 3d printed mesh brace wings and fuselage covered with film. Couple of interesting examples on the 3DLP site. If there where more planes to my taste, I would certainly like to follow that route in future. Probably time to get cad`ing and design my own!
  5. Martian - Would be very interested to know what you have printed and how any of them flew.
  6. Are there many people out there 3D printing planes. Seems to be very little discussion, aside from the prime suppliers forum. I have completed a few and would be pleased to chat with any likeminded flyers.
  7. Well it is fitted with a Vortex 38/35/1500Kv. So this suggests. if my calcs are correct. that the 8x4 prop was correct for that Kv on a 4 cell lipo. Or 10x5 if running a 3 cell. Believe I am sorted gentlemen. Thank you for your guidance.
  8. Thanks Edgar - It points me in the direction. I have found a blog that suggests 10x5 so I will try that. Going to be a bit more scientific today and set up a rig with watt meter and rev/amp gear to get the motor load and Kv.
  9. Tearing the front down tomorrow. Will post info.
  10. Edgar - Thank you. Could I ask what prop please?
  11. Bringing back into service, a Green RC 50" Electric Tiger Moth. I have not run the motor with a watt meter yet but size wise it is about 4046. There is a 60 a ESC. I will run if possible, with 4s 3500 lipo`s. Curious thing is there is only an 8" prop. If you should happen to be running one of these aircraft (electric) I would be most grateful for details of your successful flying system or indeed, any useful advice please..
  12. Thanks for everything. Churning along now Brian. Trust you realise that you saved it`s life! Rod
  13. Afraid nothing came through. Any notifications at your end?
  14. I have a an 80% finished electric Uno Wot. All the hardware is present. Fuse more or less completed. Wings joined etc. But I cannot find the spliffing manual! I recall it was a small booklet of instructions. Without it I am cobbled. If you have a copy of it. I would be obliged beyond measure if it could be copied. Rod
  15. Have a 60" Tony Nijhuis FW 109 in refurbishment?? It has working retract servo`s but no struts, wheels or spats. I do not have the plans so will construct from scratch using the orifice as the guide. However if any kind soul could offer a photo or two of same. I would be most grateful.
  16. Can anyone help please, with a source for a decal set to fit a 60" Tony Nijhuis FW 109
  17. Hi - Has anyone motorised a Middle Phase glider please? I would welcome any experience or suggestions for a power train if possible.
  18. I do not apply the same criteria to driving a car. I fly as a hobby and a recreation. Not a lifestyle. As to clubs being self determining in there rules. I firmly believe that the excessive embracement of BMFA influence IS removing the "safe" fun flying aspect of the passtime. I have flown for a good while, competently and without any H&S issues. Governance not required!!
  19. Having been " loving flying" for almost five years i would like to say that "I have no intention of being tested by anybody." As a result my club membership is almost useless. I can only fly in the presence of a club instructor "even now" then only when he will be there at the site and only when he does not wish to be flying himself. Effectively about 1 to 2% of possible flying opportunities. I can name at least eight people in my time with the club who have given up in frustration and anger. Also no little expense. It is good little club but spoiled by BMFA imposed bureaucracy and petty officialdom. I conceed the essential need for safety and control of inevitable cowboys. - But I address the needs of an entry level senior person. - I fear you are nurturing very few! I luckily have somewhere private to fly. Otherwise I certainly would not be a current participant. Thanks for the opportunity to get that off my chest.
  20. Shane - Thanks for info. May I assume the use of high spindle speeds and high feed rates? Percy - I did in fact mean to say Depron. Was working on an Elapor model. Easily confused!! Have experience of CNC routing and milling. Just did not try foam milling before. This interesting post has promted me finally, to actually cut some models. Thanks! In a few weeks time I will be selling my small table top Step 4 - 3D router running a small Proxxon spindle. 510 x 308 x 70 mm cutting area If anyone is looking to dip their toe in Cad/Cam it may be a good little starter unit for you.
  21. Could I ask again please. Are you CNC milling or hot wiring your Elapor profiles.
  22. Has anyone cut/milled Elapor as opposed to hot wiring please?
  23. Fusion 360 is completely free. Just register for the 30 day trial. On expiry register yourself as a casual user or hobbyist and thereafter it is all free.
