Many thanks for all your replies, I will go with a cheapy to start and see how I get on. I will take the advice and get more batteries when the model is complete. Thanks again for your trouble it was a great help. I will carry on with the build now I need the battery powered up to check out the servo movement, but a fair bit of building and covering to do first. Stan

The model is a Ben Buckle mini super about 60% complete at the moment, I have a 3s lipo for the power, I will probably have another as well before we get to the flying stage. I would like to have both 12v and 240v with the charger. There are so many advertised that I was a bit bemused as they differ in price so much, I want something simple but also has the benefit of being reliable. Stan

Hi All Need some advise from users, I am a first time electric flyer, so gathering info as I go. I need to buy a lipo battery charger, there are lots about at all prices, can anyone give me any idea as to what to buy or what to look out for. Lipo,s are new to me so any help will be appreciated. Thanks for your help, I am still building the model so I do not know how hot it will get, It was from another modeller who told me that the lippo gets hot, so I thought I would ask the question at this stage rather than have problems at a later date. Thanks for putting my mind at rest, this is my first electric aircraft so it is a leaning curve, I will watch out for the esc. though and provide cooling. Stan

Hi All, I was wondering how you more experienced people deal with the heat from lipo's when in use. Do you have to protect the mounting on which it held whilst flying, I appreciate the need to ventilate both the esc and the lipo, but is the heat generated enough to do something extra with the mounting area. The plan does not show any information as to mounting as the aircraft was designed for ic. power ( Ben Buckle mini super). Any thoughts will be appreciated. Stan

Hi all, Yes it is the mini super, thought I would try this as it as about traditional as you can get, plus should be easy to fly (when completed). some years ago I built a spitfire, only to find it was beyond my flying expertise, 'tragic' results. I will be in touch again a bit further down the build road, I am pleased with how it has gone so far, the kit is ok. but a bit mean on some balsa I find. Thanks again Stan

I am building the Ben Buckle mini version of the super sixty, I was thinking of going electric for this but I am put off by the jargon that seems to linked with it. I have always used ic power in the past. I have to buy all the parts from scratch, esc, motor, batteries and any switches that are needed, I have seen mention of needing capacitors and and maybe heavier wiring, not being used to electrics has made me wonder if I should stick with what I am used to. Any help with what I should use will be helpful and appreciated. Stan

Once again thanks all for your replies, I will look into the electrics a bit more, they must be cleaner to use and my memories of starting an old ic engine is not good. I will keep you informed of any developments and updates. Stan

Thanks all for your relies, I will stay with ic for now but will look into electric for aircraft as I used this in the boats and have the odd bit of stuff lying around. Need to get some radio gear and a new engine, the asp range look fair for the money I will be around for some help no doubt

Hi all, just coming back to aircraft again, have been tempted away by boats and railways over the past few years, but once again the aircraft has pulled me back. Started as a lad some 70 years ago but always had some piece of model lurking somewhere, having tried other options my first love was model aircraft, soI suppose it is no surprise that I have gone full circle. I remember selling of my old engine and saying to my wife 'i will not be needing these again' are well better start looking around, I have plenty of time know. Just ordered my first kit, a Ben Buckle mini super 60, the adventure begins again.

Thanks all for your kind words, I live in lincolnshire and I think there is a club in Boston so I will check it out. I have been looking om the internet at the assortment of goodies out there, I still have a few bits and pieces including a very full set of tools and a very good workshop. I parted with some i/c engines a while back thinking that they would not be used again. Never mind they were a bit ancient.

Hi all, this is my first post to this forum, I have benn a keen modeller for most of my life but have not done any for the past ten years. I am about to start up again so consider myself a "newby" as I will have to get used to the new bits and pieces available today. I intend to start with a good old fashioned high wing trainer probably a vintage type,(like myself). I enjoy the building as much as the flying, and repairing!!. I will need a bit of help I expect from you good folks so please be kind
