  1. Hi guys, I’m seriously looking at buying, when I can find one, the new Xbox X. But, what I’d like to know is will the brilliant RealFlight simulator run on this console? I would also be interested to know whether the RF9 would run using the Spektrum USB dongle so that I could use my DX6 to control the aircraft. The new Microsoft Simulator is rumoured to be available quite soon to run on this console. Looking forward very much to hearing your comments. John. 2. Thank you so much MattyB. That’s a really great answer. Very well explained. Thank you again. Kindest Regards, JohnnyB.
  3. Hi everyone, If I may, I’d like to pose a question about wireless ‘buddy boxing’ using,in this case, 2 Spektrum DX6 Tx’s. I have set up my ‘master’ Tx to use the Pilot Link Master so that it is unnecessary to have any programming in the ‘slave’ Tx. This is because all the programming in the master Tx,with Pilot Link Master, is directly transferred over after setting up as required, and the slave Tx is bound to the Master. But my question is, if once flying and the instructor changes anything on the master, ie any of the trim settings etc, will they be directly transferred, so that when ‘student has control’ these ‘new’ trim settings will be instantly effective through the slave Tx. Or, to make them effective, does it require the 2 Tx’s to be rebound again to register those new trim changes. Also, how can you check to see if those small trim changes have transferred over as they will be physically shown on the screen of the master, but not the slave Tx. Hoping this all makes sense. 4. Thanks Jon. I’ll be reading it then whenever it next drops through my letter box. 😜
  5. Hi Jon, I'm installing the afore mentioned SC52FS in a Seagull Arising Star trainer. I have several other models that are electric but being a bit of an 'oldie' I'm very nostalgic and I just love hearing an i/c motor in the air. I also have a Chris Foss Uno - Wot with an Enya SS30 2 stroke up front. I'm getting a bit worried though as the future of i/c motors seems to be getting less and less, certainly regarding new motors. Being connected with the industry, I really love Laser engines, how do you see the future panning out Jon?
  6. Hi everyone, Thank you everyone for all of your comments regarding my query. I really appreciate you all reading my problem and taking the time and effort to respond, especially with photos too in some cases. Jon - Laser Engines was spot on with the photo and the explanation. That photo together with the relevant ‘arrows’ was just great and the mention about the ‘slow running needle’ extremely helpful. Thank you so much Jon. Engine Doctor - Thank you also for your photo reference but as you can gather it’s a slightly different carburetor that you’ve shown. Really appreciate your comments though. Martin Harris - Again the wrong carburetor shown in the photo, but the comment regarding that ‘slow running needle’ was very apt as before writing my question I had inadvertently removed that screw due to its ‘apparent’ relevance to that throttle arm, being in the actual hub of the throttle barrel. So, once again,Thank you all for your contributions not forgetting Peter Christy and Petrol Pete. My engine is now running very well and with that throttle arm successfully rotated, more easily connected to the throttle servo. I feel that I must apologize though for the slow response to your collective helpful comments. I do so most sincerely, but I’ve been quite ill during the intervening period, but I’m back on the road to a full recovery now. Once again Thank you all for your help, and Happy Flying. Kind regards, John.
  7. Hi everyone, Recently I’ve been doing quite a lot of head scratching trying to figure out if it’s possible to rotate the throttle control arm of my SC52FS motor through 180* so that I can connect the control to the servo from the bottom position instead of the present top position. I’ve removed the screw in the hub of the barrel which attaches the arm, and also the screw behind the throttle arm, but to no avail regarding being able to rotate the position of the control arm! Hoping someone can help. With Kindest Regards, John.
  8. Hi everyone, Well for sometime now I've been contemplating changing the 4AA cells in both my Spectrum DX8g2 and also my DX6G2. So, without further ado I sent off for the Spectrum 2S 2000mAh Lithium Ion pack and also the 4-Max 2S 4000mah LiPo battery. They both arrived together this morning and I had an hour free so I thought I'll get cracking. 5 hrs latter I had managed to get the Spectrum 2000mAh inserted after damaging the very soft wire covering in three places. Patching those up I persevered and got extremely stressed out poking and pushing the wires into the tiny little space where the connection goes. Connecting up is tricky enough!! Even though the connection appears to be 'fully home' I had to strip the padding off of the inside of the sliding rear cover. Also, I've really still no idea whether I've nicked those delicately covered wire/wires in that final 'push'! Well, that was certainly challenging. But moving on to the 4-Max Lipo battery, which actually has THREE wires to squeeze into the same very restricted compartment!! I think during this whole process I may have even invented a few new swear words ....!!!! I have still to complete this changeover. I just couldn't take anymore until tomorrow. So, my question is - Has anyone on here actually found an easier approach to insert these replacement batteries into an extremely restricted space on the transmitters. Not actually knowing if I have further damaged those wire/wires is terribly worrying. Any experiences and solutions found would be most welcome. John.   Edited By JohnnyB on 15/05/2019 16:57:10
  9. Thank you John and Denis for your replies. I haven't had much time to get the model out and try to put your collective suggestions in to practice. Unfortunately, I've not been very well but hopefully next week I should be in the position to report back on here to you on how things went. Fingers very tightly crossed. Thanks again, John
  10. Hi everyone, Been trying to set up my recently purchased E Flight X-VERT today. No problem binding with my Spektrum DX6G2. Controls all worked fine, except the throttle. Then when I tried the Stability System Reaction test - nothing!. The control surfaces should have reacted to correct external forces such as wind etc. But nothing! Receiver correctly showing 'green' and in 'Multirotor Mode' and receiver battery fully charged. Correct model entered into the Tx. So I tried to contact Horizon Hobby by email and that even failed!! Not going very well so far!! The email I used was - [email protected] Has anyone else experienced problems similar to those above? Hoping someone can help!! With Warmest Regards, John.
  11. Hi everyone, This post rather prompts me to ask the question - how can you tell when 10% glow fuel is beyond its best? I've got 1/2 gallon of 10% glow fuel that's about 3yrs old. It's been tightly sealed in its original container in a dark corner of the shed. I have used a small amount of it and totally resealed it again but that was about a year ago. That seemed OK and I used it to just bench run in an Enya 30BB, Does glow fuel actually 'go off'? John.
  12.     Hi everyone, Well, last year I came across this new tv channel, set up by a couple of aviation enthusiasts. This channel is now quite well established, and I too am now a fully paid up member, being something of an aviation enthusiast. This tv channel I'm referring to is called - Bigjet.tv. I'm not connected to it in any other way, other than being a very enthusiastic member who enjoys watching full size airliner activity, at various airports. You do get 30mins of 'free view,' and to join up to become a Gold member will mean subscribing for about £4 per month, for 2  90 minute broadcasts per week, plus occasional 'specials'. Just take a look and see what you think. I became hooked straight away. John.   Edited By JohnnyB on 22/02/2018 11:43:40
  13. Hi Beth, Thank you very much for that link. That's extremely helpful and very much appreciated. John.
