  1. Paul commented that he was finished with Hobbyking, due to having been censured (sic) on RC Groups and his posts deleted. It appears that his posts were actually deleted by Hobbyking on a Privately Moderated thread there. That functionality was a bad idea, which I was strongly against at the time it was implemented.
  2. What does the note actually say, which causes your concern? I've used many Hitec 555 receivers in the past, some with Futaba servos, which were usable with no issues by simply trimming the wee tab that Futaba put on their servo plugs and running a blade down the sides of the plug to remove the sharp edge.
  3. Was it deleted or was it moved to the Bit Bucket? Was it a privately moderated thread?
  4. I know what a dry cell is Martin, I'm just trying to find out what Bas means, as the most common forms of dry cell would either be too low voltage (1.5V in the case of AAA, AA, C, C, D batteries) or too high a voltage (9v -PP3, PP9) for those servo testers.
  5. What exactly do you mean by "a dry cell"? AFAIK the wee blue servo testers are meant to be operated from a 5v supply, such as would be provided by a 4.8v, 4 cell, Nimh pack. I suppose you could use the regulated supply from a BEC at 5v, but you'd never connect a lipo directly to them.
  6. Like GG said that isn't RC Groups deleting a post, it is the owner of a privately moderated thread. RCG policy is that they do not delete posts or threads. It has always been their policy.
  7. Oh my word this forum needs more reaction emojis - a simple like is nowhere near enough for that beauty. 😎
  8. Nope, posts and threads are never deleted, it's been the policy since before eZone became RCGroups. In extreme cases some posts may be moved to the Bit Bucket sub-forum, which is not directly displayed, but they are never deleted. That policy has been confirmed as being continued by the current administration.
  9. Posts are never deleted on RCG - perhaps you are mistaken?
  10. John's F-82 does a very credible and exciting spin. 😎 My Bf109 does a nice roll off the top, but I've not managed a proper Split S and fly most of the time on beginner mode as it looks soooooo good carving up the sky. They all fly superbly and the best fun is with five or six up at once.
  11. It seems to be a thing with pilots. If you make them the exact correct scale then they often look a bit small in the model. Problem is that with a model structure, which is typically chunkier than the full size then sometimes it's not possible to get scale size shoulders into the cockpit.
  12. I stand corrected -haven't started mine yet - that would make the model pretty much bang on 1/8th scale. (1/7.94 scale).
  13. The FW190 is 1/7.51 scale at 55" span, so pilot could be scaled accordingly. I find the following table handy when sizing pilots. It sits in my model log spreadsheet.
  14. Have only tested certain servos, which have a history of failure and, unfortunately, even the testing wasn't able to weed out the weaklings on one occasion. I'd never of dreamed of testing the gear over that critical period before suffering a spate of Durafly servo failures. I really don't like running motors for an extended period of time on the ground, rather than in the air and I'd imagine that receivers/transmitters are best dealt with in the wild, in a range test environment, rather than on the bench.
  15. Peter was asking Brian which make of servo Bas - Brian's edited his post to show that they were fake Futaba servos.
  16. No, but I have had one fail, in the air, after such a soak test for half an hour, which was a bit of a pain in the neck. I've come to wonder, in light of recent posts, whether that could be frame rate related and will investigate further. I trust the receiver bind rate process to identify whether an 11ms or 22ms frame rate is suitable for the servos installed in a model, but read recently that some analogue servos really dislike the faster frame rate. Perhaps a more sophisticated servo tester than the wee blue ones might be a worthwhile investment. The GWS one that Phil linked to earlier is available on AliExpress.
  17. Like John said, lots of these in our club and use of expert mode is usually limited to a few seconds of experimentation. They fly so beautifully well in beginner or intermediate mode that there is rarely any temptation to go into expert mode. The only thing I miss is the ability to pull off a good split S to get on the tail of an opponent headed in the opposite direction.
  18. Aye, that's one of the uses that I'd been setting mine to do, cycling servos for an hour or so "soak" on just that basis that any failure is likely to be encountered early on.
  19. Nice Mick Reeves Spitfire -one of the classics.😎 My flying pal Mal used to have one and it flew beautifully. Best of luck with your maiden flight.
  20. That's a coincidence, I also have one of those and it's been working fine for years, then last week it threw a wobbler and refuses to work. I thought it was likely the NiCd that I use to power it and gave that a charge, but it still wouldn't work, with three different batteries. The lights are on, but no-one's at home. Tried on multiple different servos of various brands, no joy. Then, as suddenly as it had stopped working, at the weekend it started working again. Very strange.
  21. That's right Frank, the small 40x70mm vent is for inserting in the top of the fuselage. That's the file that Martin linked to on Thingiverse.
  22. I'd imagine that Phil's point about the absurdity of the nonsense comment that an elevator-less landing is impossible stems from his years of flying single channel models which are not equipped with such luxuries.
  23. Welcome to the forum Davy. You'll find lots of useful information here and may even find that the Ken Anderson that you refer to is on the forum. cheers Brian North East Re-Union Department
  24. Looks good - nowt wrong with that model that a little bit of lightweight filler and a covering of lightweight glass cloth round the front end won't cure.
  25. That gave me a chuckle too Phil. 😄
