  1. Many thanks Danny. I'll try and press on with my Hobby King units, modifying them a bit if possible. Cheers, Stuart
  2. Thanks Danny, I thought you must have turned them upside down! Just two final points: where did you buy the oleos from? And could you give me the approximate compressed and extended lengths. Many thanks, Stuart
  3. Hi Danny. I have a query or two about your valuable article in the September RCME mag where you describe your work on the Fury oleos, including the shrouds. I bought two such oleos from Hobby King which I now find are not long enough for the job, some 160 cm overall needed, and they also have limited displacement as the spring is too stiff. I am assuming each leg supports about 5lb and the required deflection, according to the plan, between the loaded and unloaded positions is about 3.5cm. I would be interested to know where you got your oleos from and whether they are about the above length and provide a comparable load displacement. Also it is not clear from the article how the attachments are made to both the 8 SWG.top wire and the 10 SWG axle. Any assistance greatly appreciated. My progress has been slow, but I think sure. The airframe is complete and I have started covering with silver Oratex. This is coming on well, with a heat-controlled sealing iron the job is very enjoyable and the material is easy to work with. I have also completed some of the metal sheets for the 'the front end' in litho. Incidentally if anyone wants any litho give me a call. Best wishes to all, Stuart .
  4. On Dennis' plans there is no sign of a forward fin-to-tailplane supporting wire. The photos of the aircraft show two such wires...? Stuart
  5. Many thanks Danny for your very helpful, and detailed reply. In view of Andy's comment (and he has flown the Fury) is it better to leave out this significant amount of incidence? It does seem rather a lot... Stuart
  6. Your advice again Danny. From Sheet 1 of the plans it would seem as if there is an air gap under the fin when it is glued to the fuselage, above the tailplane. Since the tailplane is at a positive incidence of about 4 degrees this might be there so the incidence can be adjusted. However since the fin and tailplane are glued in place it would be difficult to readjust this incidence. Am I right in that there should be an air gap or perhaps I've got it all wrong! Stuart
  7. In case anyone has changed their mind about using litho sheets for the Fury this is just to say I still have a number of 30x45 cm sheets available. Send me a PM if you are interested, with your details. They are about 0.15mm thick which I find is ideal for the job. Stuart
  8. Danny, you are a kind lad! I'd love you to make me one... I think you'd deserve at least a double whisky.. Stuart
  9. Thanks Danny and Martian. I don't think the glass fibre board parts contain an elevator horn. Any chance, Danny, you remember which commercial firms make a suitable version? I'm not experienced in silver soldering - could learn I suppose! Stuart
  10. Any ideas welcomed on how to get a 'commercial elevator horn' as shown on Sheet 2? I suppose I could try and make one. Stuart
  11. Hi Danny. No doubt I'm being stupid but do we assume Dennis Bryant wants us to glue both the fin and tailplane to the fuselage? Seems a little unusual... Thanks, Stuart
  12. Hi Ernie. That is kind of you. Perhaps you would lighten the background, I think the diamond was off-white, so the colours of the cock would also be stronger. Perhaps you would PM the final version to me in as high a resolution as the transmission allows. I thought if I get a number of the class interested we could keep the price of decals etc. within bounds! Thanks, Stuart
  13. Thanks Danny. Yes, I have looked on your flicker pages and one or two of the cock images would be fine if I could download/save the emblem alone. I was hoping you would do it for me as I don't know how to select part of the total image and then save it ... Sorry about my lack of technical ability! Stuart
