Hi, Eric. Go for petrol matey... cheaper than glow fuel. and more reliable too!!
-
Hi All, Thanks to Mark Lubbock I think we might just have an extra topic on this forum. I have started work on this little beauty today, I might even finish and run it as well. Best of luck to all who bite the bullet. Regards Allan

Hi Doug, It looks good... will it fly ?
-
Gemma, Drilling holes in human flesh is not recommended as nothing will blunt a nice sharp scalpel blade or a drill than human blood. ( do not ask how I know this)

Hi David, Buy the biggest and best you can afford, as one other "forumite " has just said, using a lathe does become addictive... almost certainly you will want to progress from small jobs to much larger ones. Buy one and have fun with it !!!! PS. If you do decide to take the plunge and you get into a tangle with it there are quite a number of us on the forum to help you out.. Good luck....

Hi Phil, Sounds pretty good to me, if the big boys discover that they have competition they will have consider price reductions won't they !! Good news for us !! Edited By Allan Jordan on 25/02/2010 17:59:54

Hi All, I am surprised that I have seen no posting from David on this topic !!! Edited By Allan Jordan on 18/02/2010 16:47:04

Hi steve, I've used brown paper and thinned down PVA wood glue, it takes cellulose paint well.

Hi All, As both Model Engineer & Aeromodeller KC I can see your point , we used to have a really first class show a few years ago didn't we ! I wonder if we can get David Ashby interested in a flying show again at Sandown sometime this year ? Or perhaps even the home of British aviation " BROOKLANDS " in Weybridge... Hard runway surface and a splendid Aviation / Motor Museum as well. What about it David ??

Wing seating tape.
Allan Jordan replied to Ross Clarkson's topic in Model Engineering and Accessories
Hi Ross, John L has got the best idea for wing seating, Gerard Feeney wrote an article on the subject some time ago in RCME and it really does work a treat !! Another example of B&Q modelling perhaps ?? -
Hi All, Surely the best course of action with these spark conversions is to contact Just Engines... I'm told they are always ready to help with info. Why not give them a go ? Allan
-
Hi Gents, May I suggest that you follow the "WOO" in this matter... Brian suggested ages ago that PTFE tape was the best way to go... He's right too !! It works a treat..

Hi all, I buy mine from SLEC....Allan
-
Hi Eric, Have you tried SLEC models ? If you haven't, this might just be the solution to your problem. [email protected]

Hi Raymond, Why not ask Brian Winch ( aka "WIZARD OF OZ ") Try [email protected] Brian uses a pyrometer to carry out engine tests, perhaps he can help. I have made alluminium exhausts but I'm not familiar with "DURAFIX " rods. Give Brian a go, he's a mine of info. Regards Allan J

Hi Ron, Bite the bullet matey, there must surely be other items you require at Modlfixings.

I'm off to Sandown Park on saturday to choose my own.

Myron, Ihope you asked Mrs. B before you tried her hairspray !!!

Hi Richard, I just hope that all the "forumites" be they "old hands" or "newbies" take heed of your "words of wisdom" A few years ago I was machining a length of brass bar in my lathe when a small piece of swarf hit the righthand lens in the glasses I was wearing, when I removed the glasses I found the swarf embedded in the glass lens. The moral here is to follow your advice and Protect Your Eyes !!Edited By Allan Jordan on 16/10/2009 19:07:06

Hi Rob, you are not alone when it comes to "senior moments " I have managed to build two "port" wings and several sets of same side fuselage panels. My best one recently was possibly putting my fuel proofer brush into my tea!!
