  2. I can thoroughly recommend Peter , his service is first class and the cost extremely reasonable. I had partial thread damage and didn't need an insert , he sent internal pictures of the head & thread and even test ran the engine for me , first class. **LINK**
  3. Simon I would definitely not leave the struts off , the top wing mount section isn't the most sold structure.

  6. I don't think its disappearing but with alternatives on offer now that never were it's never going to be as popular. The biggest thing and as previously stated in the thread is that many people like to make things and I can't see that changing. It is an oddity that unlike many things it's far cheaper to buy an almost ready made model than buy all the raw materials and do it yourself. Personally I think the time available thing is a big part in today's society, just look at how long we spend on places like this for a start. I've tried & sadly failed due to time and space issues but I look forward to building a "Proper aeroplane" as a fellow local flyer and nostalgia notebook scribe put it to me. Long live balsa bashing.
  7. lol indeed as she says "pretty cool" Mat. My young lad and myself were in a similar position on Thursday taking advantage of most of the neighbors being at work & running in an OS 120 Surpass. The Roto looks & sounds great.

  10. Have you actually run it up in the airframe yet John ? I would defiantly do that before trying to cure faults that may not be there.
  11. As above John it should run fine like that. One thing to have in mind with the Saito is that they rely on the low end needle for around 70% of operation so tuning one is slightly different than othe two and four stroke engines (not any harder just different). The 125 is a fantastic motor , very powerful and extremely light too, love mine.
  12. Mine started life as a picnic table from Ebay. A few modifications later and its a very useful stand that all folds down into a flat unit that will sit in the boot or behind the drivers seat when the back seats are folded down. The alloy brackets were made at work but nothing that couldn't be replicated in wood. It's even got a TX holder , but no cup holder as yet

The best one i have flown so far is 52 4 stroke powered and has a ton of lead on the tail for c/g. the additional weight helps settle the model and its quite nice to fly now. I would echo this , my least favourite model to train people on. The Irvine 53 is a gutsy performer for a small two stroke, I too would dowsize it to a 52 size four stroke.   16. I wouldn't go by Seagulls recommendation as they too seem to be confused by the translation from glow sized to the newer (trendy) cc size info. A couple up at the club have been caught out , one building their steen bi plane with the recommended 15 cc petrol power plant only to find it almost dangerously under powered when he flew it first time. Look at the wingspan, length & weight and go from there , personally I would be looking at a Saito 82 four stroke for the flybaby. Edited By Justin K. on 01/04/2017 06:58:27

  18. O don't worry Bob the paint chipped but in an area I hadn't touched so I've not got away with it totally. The engine mount is grand and my supplier is open on Sundays too 😉 Jon my mount supplier had one of your twins sat in the box that he let me have a good look at, beautiful engineering I'm looking forward to seeing & hearing that beast in action.

My only niggle is that you have to buy either a glow or electric mount system. IMHO both options should be included, as a lot of other manufactures do. They removed the two mount systems to keep the costs down on the second generation kits and I think that's a great idea especially as I rarely use the fuel tanks supplied with ARTF kits. In comparison to what else is on offer of a similar size & flying style the Acro Wot still offers very good value for money without the running kits.

Cowl cutouts shaped , I have used one of the excellent Just Engines 90 degree exhaust knuckle manifolds to angle the silencer down and out of the bottom.   Just the fuel tank plumbing , balancing and control surface rates to do .   21. With the carb barrel & horn lower due to the inverted engine position I have mounted the throttle servo on its side and utilised this handily placed slot for the servo arm.
  22. Ok so the adjustable mount did the trick & missed all of the original holes by a good margin. I had to remove the fuel tank brace from the rear of the firewall but its not an issue as I'm not using the supplied tank anyway.

The 8J fly's the model, bound at 2.4 gig, and switched to trainer just uses the slave sticks. If they can't afford to keep a small office going in Essex employing countless more people seems extremely unlikely.

Other than this as reported previously in the thread they have indeed left or are in the process of leaving the uk. As with buying from the Hobbyking European warehouse, I would image couriers will carry the stuff to the UK shops / customers from Germany direct.
