  1. Thanks, everyone, for your help. Recognising that this was above my pay level, I took it to my friend,Don, and, after an hour, he had it running like a watch, low idle 'nall! There wasn't anything specifically wrong, but a buildup of things like wrong felt washers and o rings (hardened), plus a super sensitive idle screw adjuster. It seemd to me that a 1/16 of a turn made all the difference between running smoothly at all throttle settings, and refusing point blank to start. Just a case of sod's law! Thanks once again, Den, Abertawe.
  2. Thanks, Tom - no flow until high speed needle is falling out!
  3. Cuban 8 - I'm not sure if the carb has been stripped before I did it last week. It's whistle clean, no gum etc. I don't know when it was last run,it's been on my shelf for about 5 yrs!
  4. My apologies - Its a ASP 65, I was told they are 'the same as' OS, and that stuck in my mind. I know the blow/flow test is used for low needle stuff, I'm just trying to get ANY fuel into the barrel (unfortunately, the quick route through the air intake is not easy, as the intake points downwards, and my test bench set up doesn't allow easy access, although I can block it with my finger!) Thanks everyone, your help is much appreciated. I need the engine for my old Astro Hog!
  5. Hi everyone. My summer venture into i/c is going farely well, but I have hit a snag with my OS.65 4stroke. I am doing the blow/flow test, but cannot get air pastthe barrel/inlet.The intake nipple is clear, and only when I unscrew the high speedle to within a 1/16th turn of its max (then it falls out), does the air flow. Any suggestions, please?
  6. Nigel, just ordinary glo fuel 5% Cuban, thanks will order some from Leeds, and would like a copy, please. Jon, thanks for the detailed explanation of how to treat it -wil do! Diolch, pawb! Thanks everyone! Den
  7. jUSTABOUT TO FIRE UP A NEVER USED sp .81 FOURSTROKW, AND IT OCCURREDTO ME THAT IT MAY BE BEST TO CHECK WHAT FUEL TO USE, AND ANY RUNNING IN PROCEDURES TO FOLLOW? dEN mORAN ,lLANGYFELACH APO LLOG EES FOR THE CAPS LOCK!
  8. My mistake ,Den, it was perfect! Dioch!
  9. Thanks, I've sorted that out now - the beautiful pic I was sent (above) presents on the opposite side, but a was a great help. Once agin, thank you, everyone. Den, Abertawe.
  10. That's a great tool, Andy! I have a 'Vanessa', but it has to be suspended from my ceiling, so that simple rig will be a lot easier to use! Den Moran, Abertawe.
  11. I have a Mutunuc 61 engine with a Aeromaster bipe that I purchased recently. I am trying to get hold of a mutunuc seiki 65 ABC manual, but it's very like an ABC pattern, so I'm not too bothered if I can't find one. I do have a problem with the fuel intake nipple, which 'presents' toward the prop, a bit too close for my comfort, and would like to replace it with a 90deg. one to carry the fuel tube around the corner and back to the tank at the rear of the engine. Does anyone know what size this 90deg. nipple is, or how can I find out, and who sells them? Thank you, Den Moran
  12. The site is not showing my replies to individuals, sorry. Many thanks, all sorted now, Den, Cymru.
  13. Hi, everyone, and many thanks for the advice. The aircraft is old, so I decided to go with everyones' advice and remove the tank for cleaning with methanol ( I have alcohol), and crikey, what a shock when I could see into the tank! Absolutely filthy! I've decided to replace the fuel system completely with a new tank and feed lines. Another problem that seems to be inherent is that the fuel intake nipple on the casing 'throws' the fuel pipe forward towards the prop, and makes the plastic fuel pipe bend sharply in an umbrella handle shape to be able to go aft to the tank. Has anyone reversed the carburettor so that the nipple is facing rearwards? I realise that I will have to shift the control rod to the other side, but as I'm replacing the tank, it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks once again, diolch yn fawr, Den.
  14. Hi, everyone! I have an old Aeromaster Biplane, and am prepping it for flying. The glo fuel tank is in situ , and cannot be removed without major surgery. I can get access through the vent/fuel line pipe plug, but would like to have some suggestions on what to use to make sure there is no gunk or dirt in the tank.? Thank you, Den, Cymru.
  15. That's a smartypants! Thanks, Nigel, I'll look it up! Den
  16. Anyone know what this aircraft is, please? Thanks, Den
  17. A lucky break at the field yesterday. One of the boys has one from his (pre-rotary) setup, so all is ok.Thank you for your help, Den
  18. Hi, Kevin - I'll measure the cowl internal diameter this weekend, and get back to you. It would be great if its a fit! Thank you very much for the response, everybody. Den
  19. Hi, everyone. With the advent of Spring, I'm starting to look at getting my biplanes into the air. A friend suggested I put a dummy radial cover on my Super Stearman cowl as a scale feature. I've looked on lineline, and Youtube, but not making much headway. Has anyone any suggestions , please? I'd rather not make one, preferring to buy one to fit if I can, but a simple build wouldn't be out of teh question either! Thank you, Den Moran, Abertawe
  20. I'd already planned a larger nosewheel- about 1cm dia larger - should do the trick - I tested the 5s , really going for it now, it tried to open my bedroom durtains! Thanks again, all, Den, Abertawe.
  21. I see what you mean about expense! I will probably go for a 6s version, though, although I have a 5s battery here ( Ron), and may try that first - it's just a very little extra power that's needed! Thanks everyone, will update this after I get a chance to fly it ( G knows when!) Den, Abertawe.
  22. Hi, everyone! I have a 70mm EDF Dynam Meteor, which is fine taking off on tarmac, but refuses on grass. I get the feeling that a little more power would do the trick, and am looking to use a more powerful motor. At present it is 4s, and has a 60amp esc, with a Detrum BM2827A-KV2600. Any suggestions, please?
  23. Hi! Still on fuel nipples for my ASP 4s .61 - the fuel intake nipple is a vertically pointing 'normal' nipple. Because of lack of space , I would like to put a right angled fuel intake nipple in its place. Does anyone know what screwthread I have to use, please? It looks like an M3, but I'd like to check before I order. Diolch, boys, Den
  24. Brill response as usual on this, the best forum forRC in the world! Diolch, boys!
  25. Hi,everyone! The winter season upon us, and thoughts turn to i/c. I want to install a .65 ASP FS in my Astro Hogg, and I noticed a nipple on the underside forrard and pointing downwards at 5 o'clock angle. What is this for? I can't see any info on YT clips, although one does have some fuel tube connected (can't see the other end!). Diolch yn fawr, Den, Abertawe.
