Doh - I too will be changing them. Whilst i am doing it I read somewhere it was a good idea to put a drop of cyno in the hole to strengthen the threads - is this recommended?

Why dont we have a little friendly competition How long can you keep the scammers on the line before they hang up?? I reckon about 30 min is a respectable score - any thing longer is a bonus

My local club is LMAC near Leicester Just a beginner but have been made very welcome and is only 20 min away Untill I learn to fly properly there is no need to go further afield -

Being quite new to this hobby I have a question:- As I understand it an ESC is basically a device that takes DC and converts it to a variable frequency AC. Motor speed is proportional to frequency. Therefore how can there be a fixed KV for a motor. There must be some limiting factor as increasing the frequency from the ESC and the motor will go faster and KV will go up (Is there some intelligence in the ESC that senses the motor speed and carries on increasing the motor speed until it will not go any faster ?). Writing this has got the grey cells working and made me realize that I should have taken more notice of 3 phase motor theory when at college!! Steve

Chris - This is brilliant I am relatively new to this hobby and spend all my working week in hotel rooms and had thought that I only had weekends to play - at weekends swmbo finds other things " more important" than modelling. Is it worth a thread "what can be built in a hotel room" as inspiration for people like me and others limited to the kitchen table?

Radge Yes. I have marked the the recommended point (55mm) back from the leading edge on the wing and when it balances the balance point is 15mm further back

Help please I have put together a Pico Stick (the one with a fusalage) and the c of g is about 15 mm further back than it should be. It could be because I have added a 3mm carbon rod to the horiz. stabaliser or maybe because I cut the prop shaft down to bring the prop closer to the cowl, I have tried adding weight to inside the cowl but it needs 0.7 oz. On such a small park flier is this not excessive? Could I move the wings back to bring the c of g back onto the mark I have on the wing or do I stick with the excess weight? I have put the battery and electronics as far forward as I can without cutting away foam Thanks in advance

Hi All I have been watching this forum for some time and this is my first post Sizing servos seems to be a bit of a black art. From my schoolboy physics I would have thought that it was possible to calculate the torque that was required to move and hold a control surface of known dimentions in a known wind speed.(ignoring friction and assuming hinged on one edge) I think this would be useful info and allow people to pick an appropriate servo for the given application, Thanks in advance Steve
