  1. I am considering getting Hobby Laser Cutting Machine. Can you use ordinary rc model airplane plans to cut from? Is there anyone here using this forum that has a Laser Cutting Machine? And if so would they recommend using(getting) one?
  2. Hi All!! I am trying to source plans from the Book Learn To Make Models That Fly by Kelvin Shacklock! Unfortunately I have had no luck. They used to be on the x-list and on myhobbystore.com but not now. trapletshop.com don't have them either. I also contacted the publishers and they couldn't help me! This is a bit of a shot in the dark....would anyone here on this forum know how I could source these plans? Any help would be great!! Regards!! Andrew.
  3. Can people recommend which CAD to use for designing as there are many different software programs such as autocad and turbocad.
  4. Just invested in Alex Whittaker's Bushwacker kit  by Ben Buckle, saw some pics here already. Just wondering is this an easy model to build for the complete nube.   See that there build articles in 2007 so I might subscribe if these will be of some help to  me. Any tips in building it would be great.  thanks Edited By andrew on 28/10/2009 18:57:16

  7. Tony is there any websites or bblogs that helped you build the Model-T.I'm looking at it again and its very challenging.
  8. Peter, did you find anywhere that does courses?
  9. hi, I just got the book in the past few months and just about ready to get started on the Micro T or the De Havilland D.H.71. Both look wicked! Be great if I could get some advice here and there and maybe even some photos of some particular building points of the models. Yes I am the complete noob even with all the photos and steps I expect to go wrong. Anyone know of sites with help for building these planes by Shacklock. I am also looking at getting a video on how to construct gliders that rock. Anyone know of other videos/dvds which are kinda like something of a tv cooking programme.... a step by step make your own plane? IoI Think this would be great! Cheers! PS I am ordering a steel boom from ebay thanks! Think that the book is brilliant for the starter
  10. hi, I am in the middle of Ireland and there are less model shops here then fingers I have on one hand. One is great but is miles from me. I buy loads of stuff now over the net using ebay and amazon. I would like to source stuff for models now aswell over the net but I am not sure which people, there are 100s if not thousands of model internet shops. Can anyone recommend from experience good internet shops in the UK, Hong Kong, USA, ebay or anywhere in the world that ship internationally. It would be great and I can imagine that u get great prices in some of these countries compared to home. Thanks.
  11. Hi, I put a post up regarding the Hanger9 p51 mustang and got a good response. I am taking up the sport and intend on getting some books or videos, any recommendations would be great. I am currently trying to choose one of 'David Boddington's' books...any advice on one? Another book that I am thinking of getting is Kelvin Shacklock's book 'Learn to make models that fly'. Is this good for the beginner? I want to learn how to build from scratch my own planes, alas there is a huge variety of ready to fly models on the market. Will these ready made planes cost less and put what I build into the ground? Are there any good reasons to choose to build your own rather then buy these ready made? I built a high boy a few years back, actually over a decade. The ready to fly trainers now like those by Hanger9 by looks alone stamp all over my high boy. Will building planes become old history in the sport of r/c? Thanks for reading, Andrew
  12. Hi again, Thanks for the advice, no need of marriage councelling here though. I am going to take out the old high boy plane and try and get it going. I am interested in getting books on the subject aswell and wondering if I could get advice here. I am looking at getting Kelvin Shacklock's book, Aircraft Work Shop: Learn to make Models that Fly. Has anyone read or used this book. thanks. Andrew
  13. hi, I built a high boy trainer nearly fifteen years ago. I am afraid of putting radio gear and engine into it is so old now. I have not really looked at it lately but I would not be surprised if it has wood worm now since it has been sitting on an old cupboard that does in my shed. also when I got the high boy there was no instructions on how to install the equipment which without I am sure that I would make a mess. ty. ps can u recommend any good internet retailers in the uk or the other side of the pond(usa) AMB
  14. hi, I am just getting into the sport/hobby and having read this article on the mustang I think it is an ideal plane to start with. I am in Ireland and there are no retailers of Hanger9 kits, could u advice on any good shops or websites where I can get them. Thank you. AMB
  15. Just a beginner in the sport and find the magazine great and hopefully this web will be as well. I Want to learn how to make planes from plan, a daunting experience at moment. I'm surprised there are no podcasts on the sport, hence it would be fanatastic if there was. These could be used for tutorials, crafting techniques, and wealth of other things. Most immporently it could give the brginner a new opportunity to see a model being constructed from plan ,step by step, would be undoughtedly significant help to the novice in this area. IF there are people out their who have done this, please give web details, we could great web data base. what ever u think of this-please give an opinion!!
  16. Hi, I'm new to the sport-never flew but built a HI Boy Trainer 12 years ago which I am buying radio and engine gear for. Here in ireland not to many shops or enthusists. Question; which model show to go to in England which is worth a boat and car trip from Dublin?
